Penang Fried Kway Teow ($6)
.
This plate of Penang ckt from Malaysia Chiak, a food chain found in several malls and focusing on Malaysian street food is as close we can get for now to the wide array of classics from our neighbour. I’m not complaining as this satiated my ckt fix with its generous portion of wok-hei infused kway teow complete with lard bits evenly distributed throughout. I’ve always preferred the more savoury penang style ckt as compared with the local sweeter style. Not all the selection available at Malaysia Chiak is of a passable standard so some caution is required when deciding on which stall to patronize.
