Can you believe this is my first time trying the ever popular Ah Ma Homemade Cake? And it's the ondeh ondeh special flavour created to celebrate National Day, available only for the month of August.

I ate this on the day it was delivered, and I liked that the sponge were dense, smooth and soft. It was aromatic, and I could smell the eggy fragrance even before opening the box.

The ondeh ondeh cake is still largely a Castella cake, with subtle ondeh ondeh flavours. The Pandan base of the cake gets its flavour from freshly squeezed pandan leaves, layered with some gula melaka and coconut in the middle, and topped off with coconut. No artificial flavouring or colouring is added.

So this won't be for you if you're looking for a strong ondeh ondeh identity. But i still liked it for the smooth and soft sponge with aromatic eggy fragrance.
