Filled myself to the brim with food in Chicago, but yet didn’t end up trying a true deep dish pizza in Chicago. This is sort of close though! A deep sloshy pile of cheese and tomato sauce didn’t really appeal to me, so this seemed like a better option.

Peqoud’s pizza is done in a pan, which results in tasty charred cheese edges. Surprisingly didn’t find the pizza too overwhelming and it was quite a good portion. I particularly liked the tomato sauce here - real herby and complemented the cheese well. The base wasn’t soggy from the liking either and tasted like a focaccia with a crispy base.

Overall, not bad, a good experience, but I’ll stick to my Neapolitan pizza with a chewy blistered crust. Peqoud’s lunch deal ($4.95 for a 7” pan cheese pizza, additional $0.99 to add an ingredient) is really worth it though, because the same thing normally costs $8.49. The servers are also really nice.
