I have this impression that duck confit tend to be really dry. Probably some form of childhood trauma #firstworldproblems. But this duck confit is juicy enough, and the mashed potatoes and the mushrooms do add to the juiciness of it all.
That being said, this is not something that I would rave about, nor would this be a dish that I would cling on to the next time I visit Saveur, but it's still OK.
