Went by McDonald’s and saw their latest release of the Yubari Melon Cone which got me really intrigued to try, considering how it isn’t everyday that McDonald’s does release a soft-serve flavour that is based off what is perceived as a premium Japanese produce which makes this release pretty interesting for me.

Whilst some of their limited time-only soft serves are not quite something that would be tuned towards my preferences, I was pretty glad that the Yubari Melon Cone didn’t disappoint. Coming in a light orange hue, the Yubari Melon soft-serve comes nothing short of what was expected — a soft-serve that carried notes of cantaloupe with its distinct sweetness; all that with a being smooth and creamy with a clean finish. Liked how there wasn’t any weird or bitter aftertaste with this one, considering how such melons do carry a slightly bitter undertone behind the sweetness. The Yubari Melon soft-serve also didn’t melt too quickly; the consistency being fairly similar to that of the usual vanilla soft-serve.

For those who have been following for a while, one might recall that I am pretty fond of McDonald’s Purple Sweet Potato Waffle Cone previously — while the Yubari Melon Cone comes less artisanal in comparison due to the use of the standard cone as opposed to the waffle cone of the former, the Yubari Melon Cone does come as a favourite to me as well; perhaps second to that of the Purple Sweet Potato Waffle Cone considering there seems to be more creativity there than with the Yubari Melon Cone in general. That being said, I do find the Yubari Melon Cone being a standout to the other limited time-only soft-serve creations that McDonald’s has come out with in recent times; one that I would return to have again!
