Passed by this place before and had wanted to try. When I got to the location at 710A Ang Mo Kio Ave 8, the shop was replaced by Indian bank. I thought my curse was at work. Lo and behold, saw a notification on the wall stating it has moved to Djitsun Mall 5 mins walk away. The English name looked like gibberish. Anyway the menu was extensive. I have never liked Chinese food except for a few dishes. Having been influenced by the mala xiang guo fad, I myself have eaten it at least 6 times within 2 weeks. Based on previous experience, getting xiao la 小辣 or zhong la 中辣 doesn't give me the spice factor I'm looking for. At Guo Chang, the minimum order was $8 and each item was calculated by per 100gms ranging from $1-$3 per item. I settled for da la 大辣. 'People who enjoy spicy foods are risk takers.' Kangkong, beancurd skin, luncheon meat, 2 pieces of crab meat and enoki mushrooms went into the bowl. More stalks than leaves though. I was disappointed that it was overly spicy not due to the taste of mala but the taste of chili padi so I wasn't able to enjoy the proper mala. As with almost all the places I been to, there's a thick layer of oil at the bottom. The first time I tried this dry style of mala, it came in a styrofoam box with absolutely zero grease. Do not ever order the egg fried rice. It tasted like gruel. The taiwan sausage skewer as depicted in the image turns out to be the 20 per pack counterfeit sausage available at supermarts but the chicken skewer was very fragrant. Overall, mala ingredients is cheaper ordered based on weight rather than per serving.

😂 the name really does look like gibberish
