Tasty soup broths (shark bone and cartilage brewed soup base) and fresh ingredients (kurobuta pork, USA prime beef, prawn pastes, handmade fishballs, prawn wantons etc) are the selling points that keep the crowds coming back to this simple no frills steamboat restaurant along Joo Chiat Road (looks almost fully booked on a Sunday evening).

While I wouldn’t rate it the most budget friendly steamboat option (I prefer the prices over at 一锅 at Kallang but some compromise on the ambience needs to be made for a cheaper price of $30 per pax as its at a hawker centre), I still appreciated the interesting and unique dishes offered such as the Fish Kway Teow (fish meat in the form of noodle strands-very nice texture) and drunken prawns.

I also liked their version of prawn paste, very bouncy and fresh tasting! Tom yum soup tastes more towards Chinese and not the Thai style, but still holds some standard and kick. Basic sauces - chilli padi with light soya sauce and chicken rice ish chilli available.

Would like to try more of the other handmade items such as herh keow and meat balls in my next visit!
