A decent expectation was formed when my colleague who tried this gave it a decent report, plus the sighting of Vietnamese stall operators also bode well for a good, authentic bowl of pho. But alas, I was let down by the too-sweet, almost artificial-tasting broth and would have preferred the beef to be more thinly sliced for better mouthfeel and tenderness. That said, the broth gone wrong might just be a one-off and I might still return to try the other dishes on the menu (banh mi, bun thit nuong, banh xeo, etc).
