Off the beaten track(extremely) in one of the sleepiest HDB estates I’ve been to, @reiwasoba.sg is opened by a Japanese couple and they sell buckwheat soba freshly made on-site by their Thai cook(who has also left her mark on the menu with some Thai dishes). To keep costs low, they run the business out of a kopitiam in Kelantan Lane, with an idyllic view of Rochor River.

I braved the journey there mostly to satisfy my curiosity for such an odd combination of location, culture and circumstance, as well as for the food of course.

The noodles are decent - delicate and slightly firm, and go well dipped into the aromatic tsuyu made with chilli oil, chicken and fish broth. With only a few thin slices of Spanish pork, $12 is a little on the steep side and I left still feeling hungry, but the quality is definitely there.
