Now franchised across several outlets in Klang Valley, Sentul Ah Yap's Hokkien Mee is still best savoured at this original joint. The modern-ish space allows you to choose between sitting by the charcoal wok for the full experience, or escaping into the more comfortable confines of the air-conditioned restaurant. Order, of course, the Hokkien Mee (from RM8.90). While it lacks the lardy luxury of other popular renditions of the dish, it still garners much love for intense wok hei — achievable only by cooking the noodles over charcoal fire. Consider also the Fried Pak Ko (from RM9.90), featuring sliced rice cakes wok-fried in the same flavoursome sauce as the former. Apart from noodles, the restaurant also dishes out tai chow-style dishes for dinner, with options such as a delightful, not-so-bitter Salted Egg Bitter Gourd (from RM15.90) that will please diners of all ages.
Avg Price: RM15
