Finally got to try Burnt Ends - No 14 on Asia's 50 Best Restaurants and No 70 on World's 100 Best Restaurants. To my surprise, the food is decently priced and furthermore, no service charge even though the service was excellent. Who said you have to pay exorbitant prices for quality stuff?!

The Smoked Quail Egg with Caviar (S$15+ a pop) is a very refined appetiser. A lot happens at once in your mouth upon consuming it.

You're first greeted by the smoky flavour of the chilled egg's exterior, then you're hit by the slightly salty caviar which then slowly oozes a sweet taste that permeates your mouth upon chewing. It is then followed by the flowing molten egg yolk which coats your palate. That all happens in about one second.
