Oat White 2/5
Iced white 3/5
@doubleup.coffee is a quiet, minimalist hole-in-the-wall specialty coffee store in Kampong Glam that’s a great alternative to buzzier cafes in the area if you’re looking for a respite from the heat and maddening crowd.

The roast for the day happened to be from the Ijen Lestari coffee farm in Java, Indonesia. It boasted a subtle sweet and nutty character, with notes of raisins, almonds and cherry. The resulting iced white was smooth, mild yet flavourful.

Saw this irresistibly intense looking dark chocolate tart on the counter at @doubleup.coffee and next thing I knew, I had it on my table. Incredibly fudgey, with a crumbly tart base, I loved the rich flavours which paired wonderfully with their nutty lattes (though hopefully they dial back on the sweetness for this and I’d personally love a bit more flakey sea salt).
Double Up has been one of my go-to places for coffee ever since they opened. And while I don’t usually take my coffee with milk, their ice white is really something else. Not too acidic, a little sweet, and a little nutty.
A spot that I had been wanting to re-visit for a while, it was only pretty recently that I have had the opportunity to do so on a pretty random day which I had not quite planned on where to go.
Was intending to go for coffee but found myself ordering the Hi-Tea (Cold Brew Hibiscus Tea with Orange Peel) and the Choco 3.142 (or if you wish, the Choco Pie). Possibly one of the few chocolate desserts that really caught my tastebuds considering how chocolate desserts often carry some sense of predictability with them — the most enjoyable part of the Choco 3.142 would be the smooth chocolate ganache; so luscious and rich being suitably sweet, whilst sitting atop a pie base that seems to be made of crushed Oreo cookies. Unlike most other chocolate pies out there that features a more set chocolate mousse with a standard tart base, the combination of that decadent chocolate ganache with the sweetness and light, crumbly pie base made this possibly one of the most memorable chocolate pie/tart I have had thus far.
