Got the 3 Bao Set ($10.90). The fillings and the pastry went really well together. Pastry was slightly sweet which balanced the savoriness of the meat and sauces. Pastry was firm and did not get soggy in spite of the sauces. Favorite was the Chicken Masala which was very flavorful and well balanced. Fish tempura was great as well with a nice crunch. Having less/no sauce for the Fish Tempura really allowed the savory profile of the fish to stand out and complement the sweeter pastry. Spicy beef was decent but the spice of the sauce overwhelms the flavorful beef profile. Chewy texture of the beef did not quite complement the pastry as well. Overall was a very filling and great meal, well worth the price
Very decent baos from this new kiosk at the Bugis Junction basement! We had the Spicy Beef, Fish Tempura and Pulled Pork, and all three fared well in flavour and texture. I especially liked that each bao balances creamy and zesty, crunchy and soft.
But the winner for me would have to be their signature Pulled Pork, which melds lots of marinated meat and pickles to boot. Also, their baos are pretty huge — one’s more than enough for a light eater!
Kimchi Slaw ($3) was worth the money too. Slightly spicy, but mostly rich and tangy as a slaw should.
