Gado Gado

When I am feeling peckish and need a more substantial mid-afternoon snack, I like to hop over to Kampong Glam Cafe for their "gado gado". A vegetarian dish that comprises of compressed rice cake (same as what's used in "lontong"), "tempeh" (Indonesian fermented soya beans), assorted boiled vegetables, "tau kwa", a hard boiled egg and loads of fish "keropok" (crackers). Most of which can hardly be seen because they're covered in a thick and delicious satay-like sauce. For me, this sauce is the highlight. It is sweet and spicy without going overboard, and the coarsely-ground peanuts aren't hard at all, unlike others I've tried.

Gado gado S$3 It's being maybe TEN over years since I last had these!
