An idulgent start to the meal β 2 thick hunks of sensuously fatty foie well-complemented by a thin layer of sweet jam on crispy toast.

When in Portugal, eat octopus. A Raposaβs rendition was a whole grilled octopus tentacle that was bordering on chewy. I loved the prawns and asparagus as accompaniments, but found the sweet pumpkin puree ill-suited for the delicate seafood.

Our first taste of Bacalhau β salted cod fish β left a good impression. The fish was meaty and firm in texture, with a strong but not unpleasant saltiness. Lavished with soft sweet onion, earthy olive tapenade, potatoes and generous lashings olive oil, this was a rustically hearty main we quite enjoyed.
