i can never say no to a steak done medium rare. coat it in breadcrumbs and fry it and i’ll be weak at the knees. think juicy meat enrobed by crisp breadcrumbs - so good!!!

one does not usually see top shell and fish dumplings (her kiao) in a bowl of mee pok. but the version here is done well with tender, chewy noodles and springy meat. quite inaccessible for me but i liked this bowl of noodles a lot!

the black & white burger ($25++) from wheeler’s estate is an upgraded diner style cheese burger. think black angus, provolone, grilled onion, relish and rocket in a charcoal bun. the burger was sufficiently juicy and the condiments balanced each other without any topping dominating in terms of flavour. paired with the beautiful greenery surrounding the restaurant, i’d argue that a meal here is worth its price in taste and scenery!

carbonara in a claypot! the small serving ($19++) comfortably feeds two, and you get a heaping amount of noodles drenched in a creamy sauce topped with bits of smoked bacon. the egg yolk adds some richness, and claypot ensures the food remains piping hot! pretty tasty but it can get quite jelak after a few spoonfuls of pasta. but there’s so much else to order at new ubin that your tastebuds will never go hungry!

this kimchi beef wrap ($18) from dean and deluca left me with mixed feelings. though it is hard to go wrong with the combination of kimchi, cheese and beef, i felt like the wrap could have come out of a microwave from 7-11. tasty but... should i be paying so much for this??

the australian angus ($26++) is done to a juicy medium rare. paired with creamy mushrooms and crisp fries, this is comfort food done well. be sure to block off an hour after lunch for a post prandial food coma!

the buffet at Hokkaido sushi restaurant is always a good place to load up on fresh sashimi. I particularly enjoy the salmon and swordfish, but the cooked foods are not too bad too!
P.S if you book via hungrygowhere you can enjoy up to a 30% discount off the buffet!

There comes a point where meat is so marbled it offers no resistance to chewing. this meat is a good example of that. the kagoshima A4 wagyu is brilliantly marbled, superbly juicy and deliciously tender. if i had bottomless pockets and didn’t need to worry about cholesterol i would eat it everyday 🤭🤭

spicy salmon poke with veggies, avocado and edamame. my favourite combination from poke lulu. it makes me feel full without being bloated after.

one of my favourite sandwiches from park bench deli, the patty melt ($17+) is essentially a burger with sourdough for buns. juicy patty, melty cheese, tangy pickles, crisp sourdough - this is a sandwich for the big boys.

in my opinion, ya kun has the most consistent toast out of the various chains. the bread is always thin and crisp, the eggs are always runny, and i love the copious amounts of cold salted butter added to the bread 😊
