Cheesy Beef Patty with Turkey Bacon Having been through a change of coffeeshop operators for quite a number of times, the coffeeshop at Blk 570A Woodlands Avenue 1 is now operated by De Tian Coffeeshop — the change of operator also meant that there all the stalls within the coffeeshop are also new.
Meet Meat is a stall that serves up Western cuisine; presumably a concept by the same people behind JWS Grille Factory given how they seem to use paper bowls of that brand for some of the food items served in the stall. The menu is pretty extensive here; apart from serving steaks and chops, they also do have pasta, burger, as well as items served on hotplates to just name a few.
Nothing tantalises the tastebuds at a Western stall more than an item that comes served atop a hotplate with a sizzling sauce — which is the same reason why the Cheesy Beef Patty with Turkey Bacon was the item that caught our attention when we skimmed through the menu. This is essentially almost a burger, but without the carbs — beef burger patty that is blanketed with a layer of melted cheese atop a sizzling hot plate, served with grilled turkey bacon, and comes with a choice of two sides (we opted for Onion Rings and Coleslaw).
To be very fair, I am not sure if the beef patties here are made in-house given the uniformity of the meat as one chews through it, but I like it for its consistent texture that carries quite a good bite without being too fatty — also plus points for how it wasn’t particularly gamey so it’s not going to be that intimidating for those who do not consume beef due to its inherent taste. I loved how the cheese comes all melted, gooey and stretchy as it sizzles on the hotplate — comes with bits of onions that also slowly caramelises as it “cooks” on the hotplate. The strips of turkey bacon were saltish; just like how they should be. There wasn’t much to comment on the onion rings, though the situation involving them does remind me of Burger King where one can almost always find stray pieces of French Fries accompanying the Onion Rings, while the coleslaw does come with fine shredded veggies with a dressing that is milky — almost akin to that of KFC’s rendition.
The Cheesy Beef Patty with Turkey Bacon no doubt checks all the right boxes with in terms of visual appeal — sizzling, melty cheese atop a hotplate over meat; almost a formula that would entice the masses. Glad to say that this work out well for tastebuds too; whilst I would say that it may be a little ridiculous to make your way out to Woodlands just for this, but I am likely to have this again given the proximity of the coffeeshop away from my place — not to mention trying the various other dishes that they have to offer.
