Thai Pink Milk A much needed reprieve from the unbearable heat, Waan Cha offers a selection of macarons, puddings and pretty unique tea blends apart from the classic Thai milk tea. The Thai Pink Milk ($3.30), which I tried, was surprisingly pleasant and light with a tinge of rose-like sweetness. Having picked it just for its colour, the creamy smooth body of the drink reminded me of bandung but with a distinctive flavour that I just couldn’t pinpoint. Hence, the friendly lady boss working behind the counter shared with me that the hint of acidity was from the salak fruit, or better known as the snake fruit, flavoured syrup. Perhaps an acquired taste, the slight astringent edge of the syrup might not be for everyone but I rather enjoyed it as it was well-balanced and not overly sweet.

Thai Milk Tea Decent thai milk tea starting at $3.20 per cup. They sell flavours like ovaltine milk tea, or rose (bandung) thai milk tea. But I heard the bandung is the worst. The thai milk tea tastes pretty decent, like every other thai milk tea I've tried. It's definitely sweet, but not overly sweet. The tea aroma is pretty strong and can be tasted distinctively. They don't put too much ice into the cup, so you do get a decent portion to drink. But the location, isn't fantastically convenient, you have to walk across Novena mrt to get to Novena agency, just for thai milk tea. But they also sell macarons. There's indoor seating for like 6 people, with lawn/outdoor tables and chairs. I would recommend coming to this place after you've had a meal at Novena regency to get some smooth and cooling thai milk tea. :)

The Thai Milk Tea ($3.30) is not as sweet as the ones we are familiar with, and is made with a blend of spices and black tea leaves from Thailand. The crowd-pleasing Thai Milk Green Tea ($3.30) owes its emerald green to a blend of sencha, matcha and green tea leaves while the Thai Pink Milk ($3.30) is made with a combination of evaporated and condensed milk, with a splash of concentrated sala liquid. Seasonal Fruits 8++ This is a microcosm of the entire meal. Portion isn't v big, the taste was good but not great, and severely overpriced. Both pear and grape were juicy but that's abt it. It's ridiculous they charge 8 for this, u can get an entire packet of shine Muscat for 30? at donki and this wasn't even as good as shine Muscat. Honestly this place started off as a really delicious and worth it yakitori place, now it's severely overpriced. Their profit margins are crazy and the standards are not even maintained. I came with chope voucher and felt it's not worth it, please don't come without voucher. Or don't come at all tbh, there are better places for much cheaper PS I don't comment on the service usually but if we're paying 200 bucks, it's quite funny that they spoke to us professionally, walk 2m away, then start chatting w each other in singlish and mandarin. Yes the place is tiny but we were well withint earshot and could clearly hear every single word

Chicken Heart 7++ It really bothers me that there isn't yakitori platter for 20++ anymore. Everything yakitori is ala carte, with the thigh itself at 17++ already Have to give credit tho, this was v tender for heart, maybe the most tender I've had. There's just a slight chew and it goes well w the ponzu.

Teppenyaki Omakase With Wagyu Not a bad overall experience but I felt that the food was served too quickly, spoiling the experience a little. The wagyu (in medium) melts in my mouth. It was amazing! Other surprising dishes includes the sesame tofu that goes extremely well with wasabi, the scallops and prawns, and the potato salad. This place is famous for its Okonomiyaki but maybe I was too full by then, I couldn't enjoy. A pair of diner next to us ordered one omakase set and an extra dish of wagyu. That's a smart choice.

Cheese 🧀 and Rice Cake Okonomiyaki Sounds like a pretty odd combi but Japanese Teppanyaki can never go wrong. Tastes as good as it looks - so full of flavour w each bite. Nice portion to save some tummy space for more teppan dishes to come!

Our Omakase dinner at @osakakitchensg turned out to be an enjoyable experience, savouring delicious food prepared by the chefs across the Teppanyaki countertop. We had no regret going for their Ohmi Wagyu set for those unforgettable juicy marbled beef steaks. Our set with seafood also included perfectly cooked scallop and large prawn at the beginning of the course. Do top up for their oyster b’cos it was just so good. Towards the end, their carefully prepared Osaka Okonomiyaki completed our meal with a hearty end before dessert. There were options in their set and all those that we picked, including grilled avocado with melted cheese and omelette with pork belly were great. Look out for their seared specialty sesame tofu as it was just fabulous. After so long, it was nice that our visits to Japan Food Town have been good as we checked out their tenants.

ebi lover tendon ($13.80) x vege tendon ($10.80) for super delicious tendons that surpassed our expectations! ingredients used were really fresh and the tempura batter was light and fried till crisp. Ordered both tendons with the original sauce which was tasty and the special japanese rice they used was really good too. look out for that tempura battered onsen egg lying on top of the rice - runny egg yolk alert 😋🙌🏻 definitely coming back for more!!

Elite Char Siew But Too Spicy A worthy offshoot of 88 next door. The char siew was as good as their famous roast meat. It's not a lot, but when it's great, you appreciate every piece. Noodles were fine, with generous lard, but the chilli for a normal portion was way excessive and turned the dish too spicy.

Wanton Mee With Roasted Pork ($6.50) Just side-by-side with 88 Roast Meat, this stall offers a variation of char siew dish that we are all so familiar. The bbq smokey charred char siew was intensely flavorful and paired with crispy roast meat that melts in your mouth; it’s sinful. The noodles and wanton are probably shadowed by the meat already but it’s still good to see 88 Roast diversify their dish parings. If you cant stand queue for char siew, perhaps you might want to try this instead.

Chinese BBQ and Steamboat Can't decide between having a BBQ, steamboat, or buffet? Or just wished that you can have them all? Then Hao Lai Wu Steamboat & BBQ is the place to be! With unconventional features such as crystal pots (which prevent accidental burns) and smokeless grills (basically a parchment paper-lined hotplate), together with air-conditioning and fans, you're bound to leave this place safe, clean, and happy HAHA For $22.80++ per pax on weekends, I would say that this is value-for-money considering the level of comfort in this small restaurant and the HUGE variety of ingredients available (there's almost everything trust me). Just a word of caution from me: 1. Some of the meats are not marinated so sauces are necessary, or just sprinkle your desired seasoning over the meats while they're grilling! 2. However, the seafood items were "very salty", probably because they were pre-marinated with salt to preserve its quality.

Worthy To Try! You can choose from 6 different soups, need to top up $6 if choosing 2 soup bases. Prices were at $23.80++ per pax. Drinks and wet tissues not included, must top up. Crowd during dinner times on weekdays seems pretty alright to me. I arrived at ard 7pm and still manage to get seats indoors. If you want the crystal hotpot, do request to sit inside as I note the outside areas uses the normal pot instead. Moreover inside have aircon! We tried the mala (I asked for less spicy) and the chicken herbal soup. It was interesting to touch the pot and it doesn't burn! It felt hot but not enough to burn yet. Impressive! Selection of seafood was wide. Prawns were on the mushy side, not that fresh. Choice of meats were good, I personally like the chicken whereas my friends liked the pork belly. There were the typical veggies and mushrooms. They also have cooked food like french fries, dumplings etc. Cool thing abt this place is that they have both grill and hotpot, so you can eat both types of food. My favourite was the fried mantou, would be perfect if they had some chili crab sauce to go with it! Overall, pretty decent price too pay for a steamboat cum grill buffet. We were pretty stuffed by the end of it 😋

Ankimo Sushi with Ponzu Jelly and Spring Onion shoots. One of the best parts of the winter season is that you get really rich and flavourful ingredients like Ankimo, which is monkfish liver. It's smooth, rich and creamy when you get it fresh. Usually, you get it as an appetiser or a side dish. Here at Kaishin, they used it as a netta (sushi topping). Kashin's lunch sushi set is pretty affordable at $60 for 10 pieces of sushi. A quaint and lovely place for lunch if you are in the Robertson Quay area.
