Prawn Aglio Olio The Prawn Aglio Olio ($16) is the bomb - the tiger prawns are huge, crunchy and succulent, and the al dente linguine tossed in olive oil, garlic confit, mushroom, chilli and Italian parsley is very aromatic. Love this!

Steep’s Breakfast Steep’s Breakfast ($19) comes with sourdough toast, eggs, turkey bacon, herb sausage, avocado, sautéed mushroom, mixed greens, tater tots and roasted tomato. This is a very hearty big breakfast and I love the variety found in one plate.

Shelby’s Signature Pizza Really good pizza! One of the service staff was really friendly and helpful! Pretty good experience here ◡̈ However, do call them in advance to check if their dishes for the 1-for-1 deals are available (I guess esp over the weekends). We got there only to find out that they had ran out of ingredients for all the dishes under the 1-for-1 deal

For 1-for-1 Main Dish (save ~$16) Along Nankin Row on Pickering Street sits this cafe & bar, perfect for an after-work hangout with colleagues. Specialising in Asian-fusion Western dishes, their Islandspices Chicken Rendang Nasi Lemak ($13.90) sees specialty coconut rice, tender chicken rendang, fluffy omelette topped with peanut ikan bilis and their signature sambal. Up the spice with their Sambal Pork Chop ($18.90) or share the Shelby's Signature Pizza ($24.90) — 10 inch pizza done Shelby style, with pork bacon and pepperoni infused into soft creamy cheese, topping off with a sunny side up smack in the middle.

Mushroom Aglio Olio ($12.90) With Fish & Chips ($16.90) Nice vibes for a chill out after work on a weekday, the China square area is relatively quiet. Unfortunately we waited a while for the food to arrive (more than 25 mins and huge gap between dishes) considering there were less than 20 people then and they only ordered bar snacks and drinks. They have a lunch set with similar options from $8.90 onwards with coffee. Aglio Olio, and side mesclun salad was flavorful. Beer battered fish was greasy and lack flavor although the portion was large. We gave our feedback hoping they will improve the recipe soon! We also order gin and tonic, which was not on the menu ($15) - a tad too sweet for my husband. Service was excellent as the staff constantly comes back to check on us.

Raw Scallop Carpccio Served on a cold plate, the texture and taste is sooooo good. With a bit of truffle on top, the scallop just melts in your mouth. A must try!!!

Sashimi With Burpple Beyond Deal for 1-for-1 sashimi, we had salmon and swordfish sashimi that were served on ice with shredded daikon radish. The slices were fresh and relatively thick for a satisfying mouthfeel.

Chicken Karaage Donburi For lunch, it offers a menu of donburis and cutlets starting from $10. Each main comes with a side of salad, miso soup and rice. The Chicken Karaage Don has bite-sized chicken pieces on top of hot Japanese rice. Each chicken piece was crispy, tender, juicy and flavourfully marinated.

Yummy In The Tummy Tried the prawn risotto and oxtail lasagne. Prawn risotto: slightly wetter than usual risotto but it was the most amazing flavour ever. Could taste the prawn and herb flavour in every bite. Prawns were slightly over cooked, which was a bit disappointing for Jamie’s standard. But seriously, the risotto was so amazing I loved it more than the prawns. Oxtail lasagne: fresh tomato base, go in expecting less béchamel than a normal lasagne recipe and you won’t be disappointed. Oxtail would have been better if it was in chunks, unfortunately it was shredded and ended up smushy against the al dente lasagne sheets.

Creamy And Yummy In The Tummy My boyfriend ate the 150g burrata, I didn’t. He described it as “creamy and yummy, recommended”.

My Favourite Bread The garlic bread comes in four, but gobbled two before realising it’s photo-worthy too. Crusty on the outside but super fluffy on the inside, bread was totally not dry or tough. Garlic and herb flavour was amazing, and goes super well with the mozzarella inside it. Totally recommended!!!!!!

Biggest con job The Burpple offer was for a set meal for 2 at $98 plus taxes. Offer was to take $40 off. The meal shoved you with too much food so as to justify the price, and when the bill came it was $116+after the Burpple voucher and taxes. Who needs so much food for lunch except for the outlet to force sell you as much food as possible? And you could not even have a 3rd person join in coz they said the Burpple offer or the restaurant disallows it. Please NEVER go there. Don't be scammed like me.

Babi Assam ($19.90) The restaurant’s signature pork belly simmered in an aromatic tamarind stew, served with tau kwa and chillies. A very flavourful dish with the spices really shining through. The pork belly was super fatty (more fats than meat honestly, and whether that is a good or bad thing is up to you), it literally melts in your mouth. Burpple Beyond also has a set meal deal here - we didn’t use it this time as we decided to order ala carte.

Unique take on cocktails The cocktails at Hopscotch were presented beautifully and tasted great along with unique takes on Singaporean flavours. The ribs was tender as well.

Fun drinks and good food Was looking forwards to their drinks, but the food was surprisingly good! The pangium beef bourguignon was perfectly simmered and mashed potatoes were velvety. Love their tangyuan inspired cocktail and highly recommend the calamari as well

Main and cocktail We went during a weekday dinnee and ordered some mains and cocktails. Heard of their rave reviews on their cocktails and decided to give it a try. it was super fanciful and we liked it. The chilli lobster linguine was our favourite, tasted like chilli crab but in a pasta form.

MXG Crispy Fermented Pork Belly ($16) also freshly fried upon our order + thick cuts of meat + lovely seasoning on the skin = 7.5/10!!! fats:meat was a 1:0.5, which sadly, wasn’t to my preference. chili sauce provided didn’t add much oomph to the dish too. it looks bigger in the picture bc of the angle but it was q sad for the price.

MXG Spicy Chicken Cubes ($16) freshly fried upon our order + more meat than skin/dry chilli (THANK U) = 7.5/10!!! would be better if they spread the seasoning more evenly... felt like i ate a whole tsp of salt when i bit onto some pieces #当场死掉。also, the same for the rest of the dishes, $16 for the portion..... not exactly the cheapest.

MXG Signature Fried Rice ($16) fragrantly fried pearl rice + good amount of wok hey + rather generous amount of crab meat & tobiko = 8.5/10!!! would rate it higher if the portion was bigger bc $16 🥲 this portion’s good to be shared between 2 pax btw!

Scallop and Prawn Pasta This dish is filled with fresh seafood goodness and seems like a crowd favourite among the reviews posted online. This dish is a little salty for me but nevertheless it is still a great plate of Al Dente pasta. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Standard Drop Tried Marmalade Pantry’s sticky date pudding after 2 years and standard has dropped. It’s still decent but could be better. A shame.

Mango Berry Sunset [$20] Created in collaboration with Tanqueray, this cocktail was a very bright concoction, both visually and in taste, with quite a sweet-tasting mix of Tanqueray London Dry, Raspberry Puree, Lemon Juice and Mango.

Donut Balls [$15] We had the house-made Donut Balls for dessert. They are freshly fried on order and comes with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, crumbles, blueberries and a sweet blueberry date compote. The outmost layer of each ball had a pretty nice crunch, but it was unfortunately too dense and doughy past that.

Veggie Puttanesca Pizza [$22] The Veggie Puttanesca Pizza is a new seasonal main, featuring an all-vegetable assortment of toppings on a base decked with puttanesca sauce. It includes Kalamata olives, capsicum, Roma tomatoes, button mushrooms, yellow onions and arugula. Not a huge fan of the pizza base, as it was a little more dry and biscuity.
