A very good and affordable brunch at Kovan. Discovered this gem while wandering around at the area, waiting for the famous punggol nasi lemak to open.

Rosti is crispy and soft at the right places! Doubt you can find such a great Rosti at such a price in Singapore!

My mom’s favourite to-go restaurant for special festive.

I would say, the black pepper crab sauce is so buttery to my likely and every bites melts in my mouth. 🤤 This is the best black pepper crab I ever tried in my life.

This time, we also tried the Oyster topped with garlic and vermicelli and it’s so good. It’s very unlike western style of oysters baked w cheese that melts in your mouth, it’s more towards Chinese rich soy flavours.

Recommended!

Most worth it experience ever. Always coming back here for $0.80 boat noodles. Great atmosphere with tons of fairy lights too!

Anyone keen for a 100 boat noodles challenge?

For starters and sharings, we had
- Porchetta $9
- Traditional stuffed Roman Schiacciata $9
- Pizza $18

For mains, we ordered
- carbonara $22
- tagliolini $22
- grilled pork chop $22

For drinks, we had
- Cioccolata $6
- latte $6

Overall, I would say the starters are really good. The Schiacciata is very rich in truffle sauce while the Porchetta is very crispy and fulfilling. However, while the pizza is melted with tons of cheese, it is okay compared to the other 2.

For the mains, I find the carbonara to be flavorful and I like the tagliolini except for its small portion. Pork chop is a no no, very dry pieces.

Cioccolata is literally chocolate at its liquid state. Holy. Thick and rich for sharing.

Great ambience and great italian food! Many other dishes to try. I will come back again!

We ordered Mentaiko pasta, Saikoro beef cubes, Hotate Mentai Yaki (Scallops), Unagi fried rice, chicken nanban and truffle fries.

Personally, Hotate Mentai Yaki was the best for me. It is very tender and rich in mentaiko sauce (tremendously generous). Whereas, the mentaiko pasta is a lil too jelat to my tasting, but it would be good for sharing!

Moving on to my second favourite, it would be the beef cubes, it’s the most pricey on the list, just for a few cubes. But I must say, it was superb.

My third favourite would be the unagi fried rice. It was very filling and savory.

The rest would be sub-par.

In addition to the mains, we also ordered a tower that costs $65++ as well as soju that costs $18++. The drinks were on the pricey end. But nevertheless, great place to hang on a Friday night.

One thing to note is that, would be great to go early. Even though we book reservation, we had to wait for another 30mins because it was too packed.

Price: $20/pax (if just went for the Mains)

We had fried oysters and Spanish octopus for our appetizers, followed by porta burger and fillet mignon for our mains. We ended off the night with our desserts - Pecan cake with ice cream and Black Forest. They gave us an complimentary birthday cake as it was my friend birthday!

The service was really great and the ambience is chill. This place is located in Park Hotel, it is overall great for a nights out! With the deal, it was double the worth!

Price: $62 for 2 pax

Apparently, this bar has many outlet across Singapore. The one we went is in Siglap, tucked away in the Far East. A very chill atmosphere. The tower is definitely worth it however the mains are on the pricey side since it is a sports bar. We had a pizza and a platter, they are pretty good tho! The tower is definitely worth it, one of the cheapest in the town at only $39 NETT.

Stationed at the rooftop of JEM, it was a quiet cafe amidst the busy neighborhood. None of us knew about the place until we find it on Burpple! 10/10 for the atmosphere, very serene and we can see the sunset from the Cafe.

We ordered one brown butter waffle and chocolate waffle with our Burpple beyond ($8.80). Sadly, the ice creams are not included in the deal, the ice creams were very pricey for their taste and quality ($4.40/scoop) and we ordered 4 scoops! I would say the waffle is a yes and the ice cream is a no. I didn’t like the taste of the ice cream (coconut macchiato, raspberry cheesecake, matcha soy and Oreo fruity) and the selection is a little limited.

In addition to the waffle, we also ordered deep fried dough with chocolate ice cream ($7.80) which is pretty good compared to the waffles. I would recommend this.

This is my third time at brotzeit and Weici’s first time. I vaguely rmb the first time I went was w my family where we ordered a sausage platter that we couldn’t finished. It was just too western and meaty for my fam. The second time I went w my ex-colleagues for their rosti meal which was pretty good but pricey for its portion. And this time, here we are, trying their classics and sausages.

Fladen Schinken (Bread) - $22
Kasespatzle (spätzle with cheese) - $21
Smoked Salmon Rosti- $19
Bauernwurst (Sausage w potatoes) - $20

The dishes were okay but wasn’t filling. Sadly, the sausage platter and pork knuckles are excluded from the Burpple deal. Definitely will try these next time! From all the 4 dishes we tried here, I find myself loving the sausage the most, it’s very tender on the inside and crisp on the outside. The rosti is cooked pretty differently to that of the ones I always had, this is softer, wet and less crispy. Fladen Schinken and Kasespatzle definitely go well with a mug of beer! I find Kasespatzle to be most interesting, if I were to use local terms to describe it, it would almost be like mee hoon kueh marinated with tons of cheese (Mac & cheese)! It’s nice tho!

To end it off, I would give the service here 10/10! The staffs are very helpful and friendly to us. Great evening spent here. ☺️

Price: $12.5/pax (w Burpple Deal)

I’ve visited this store for its Turkish cuisine in September 2020, and I will save the main dishes part for the next post! Today, it will be mainly on the desserts - Kunefe and Apple Tea. That was my first time trying kunefe topped with pistachio ice cream ($15.90++) and it was so GOOD. Adding on to that would be a pot of apple tea with one-time refill ($9.90).

I’ve visited it again recently, ordered the same desserts and the standards remained the same! The atmosphere is also great! But I do heard from friends that other stores sold a bigger portion of Kunefe for the same price.... but I will leave that to next time ~
