Never tried this despite coming to this food centre multiple times (fantastic chicken rice here), as it looked a little plain, but glad I did this time. Noodles were springy, though still a little starchy. I’m not a big fan of the fish paste items, but they do theirs pretty well.
Super value for money, especially with the Burpple 1-for-1!! Added a dollar to change the rice to soba, which is good if you want less carbs because the portion was quite small. And anyway you’ll be super stuffed from the tempura items, of which they gave 2 prawns 😋😋 and 1 big cut of chicken.
Got this for my mala craving. Decent bowl, minimum spend of $5 though. You can either buy by weight, or let the lady pick for you for fixed prices ($1 for veg).
Hurrah the Indian food here makes me so happy and compels me to finish every single grain of rice (❤️fish curry❤️). Even the vegetable sides were the best I’ve tried so far.
This halal cafe was located in a really secluded spot in Our Tampines Hub, and sadly there weren’t many patrons when we were there. They have 2 options for their set lunches, one with a side, and the other with a side, drink and dessert. Got the one with one side only (got the tortilla chips), and was stuffed by the time the main arrived. Basically the cafe fare was good, and if you’re ravenous this is the perfect place for you, because the others who took the larger set lunch was struggling to finish dessert loool.
Burpple Beyond for this! Found this to be really expensive for the usual price because the portion was pretty small, so thankfully there was the 1 for 1. Staff was friendly, not bad a place to study too.
Used Burpple Beyond for this for two pax, but really, you should save the deals for a larger group because the portions are really intense!! Their Korean fried chicken was so good though, I was stuffed to the brim but still slowly continued to stuff my face.
Chir Chir’s portions are HUUGE; even as half a portion, we took really long to finish this (there’s noodles under that giant pile of bean sprouts too!). It was my first time trying jjimdak, still don’t really get the concept. It was fried chicken simmered into a stew? So if you eat fast enough the skin was still crisp, but after a while it became kinda soggy (but thankfully not too gross). Good for veg intake haha to take a break from all that Korean fried chicken.
No other stall in Chinatown makes me happier than this ☺️☺️☺️ #cheapandgood
Can’t recall which stall this was, but it had 玫瑰油, located far from the cluster of soya sauce chicken copy cats and was awesome 🙃
I was brought here thrice by my parents who wanted me to try the fish head curry, and each time it was either sold out (note: don’t bother trying for dinner time) or closed. Finally got it!! They generously gave us nearly half the body of the fish together with the head. Fish curry has to be my favourite kind of curry, as I love the sour tang; this dish is like fish curry jumbo-sized. Soo good that I finished all my rice and continued to down the gravy by itself.
Also the queue here never ends! Saw many people eating their briyani too.
Found a mala gem at Far East Plaza! Always wanted to try mala at 313 but deterred by the ridiculous price and long queue; over here there’s no need to worry about that. Really enjoyed their more liberal use of spices (not just plain numbing spiciness) though we kinda overestimated the amount we took and was left with this lingering sadness that we finished our bowl... that we ordered another bowl and got laughed at by the staff 🙃 please don’t underorder because each bowl requires a $1+ extra payment for the mala sauce
