This has really been my latest addiction of the week. Although the taste is similar to the classic teh bing we are all familiar with, this cup is an upgraded version with the addition of gula melaka. The tea is well brewed and the proportion of the milk, tea and gula melaka is nicely balanced - not too thin nor thick with each flavour shining through. I love that the gula melaka was not overly sweet too and it adds that smoky caramel fragrance.

The Pasir Ris Central Hawker Centre is quite an interesting one to visit. On the first floor there are your traditional classic hawkers but go one floor up and you will be greeted with a modern twist. Burgernomics is one of the stores on the second level with halal burgers and fries on their menu.

For its price point, I was impressed by the flavours and quality of the food. The meat was well cooked and juicy with nicely charred ends.  Between the buns lie the sautéed mushrooms and truffle aioli which really made it absolutely delicious. The mushrooms add a savoury, earthy touch and the amount of truffle was just perfect.

On the side, I also got their cajun fries which stunned me at first glance. For $2 it was a massive bowl that was more like a two person serving. Quality is not compromised either and thick cut fries were used, providing a crispy exterior and delicate center inside.

Old Airport Road Food Centre has been known for having lots of great food with a variety of cuisines. We decided to try their don for something different and uncommon for a hawker centre setting.

For $5 it came with a huge slab of chicken and a good amount of rice. The presentation had good effort for hawker centre Japanese food too. The taste was not as delicious as how it looks though but for the price point it was still pretty decent.

I was never a fan of chee cheong fan - not until I came across this particular store. As its name says, the dish is made freshly on the spot and it is what makes the dish stand out from the rest. The effort really made a difference to the texture and it was especially thin and silky. The sauce and chilli was also generally good with a generous addition of fragrant fried shallots.

We had the prawn chee cheong fan and Chai Poh (preserved radish) version. Although they are innovative with their variations, I would say the original flavours are still the best! The Chai Poh was unfortunately lacking in flavour and they could have gone with more Chai Poh. The prawn definitely fared better and I will go for this one in the future.

I have been on a ban mian journey over the past month and good to say, I have reaped a fair number of worthy additions to my list. L32 is one of the stores that made its mark and is pretty high up the list. Highly raved online as one of Singapore's best handmade noodles, I definitely have to try it myself.

I came early at around 5pm on a weekday evening and was grateful that it was relatively empty. The bowl of noodles was pretty much perfect - noodles with a good bite, smooth seasoned meat, generous portions, and a hearty rich broth.

The ingredients used were of high quality and I could tell that it was not msg loaded. The only lacking part was that it did not taste special nor surprised me. It is for sure a really good bowl of handmade noodles, but I don't see myself braving the queue for it.

Slurping from these delicate dumplings, I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of soup it contained. What further amazed me was how flavorful the soup and meat was. Comprising of a natural sweet and slightly herbal taste, it was beyond my expectations of a hawker xiao long bao. It didnt taste greasy either and the meat texture was smooth. The skin itself was also well done - thin with a good bite. After trying from so many stores, it seems I finally found my favourite!

Mr baguette is one of those stores that can really turn back time to when I was a kid. The owner serves toast fresh from the oven with a spread of butter and sugar on top. Such a simple treat but oh so nostalgic and delightful!

As a child, my grandma used to make something similar and I would remember how happy I was to munch on her sugar toast. This mini bakery nails its bread and flavours so well, leaving me with so much satisfaction.

It was honestly such a delicious bite! Fresh crispy baguette on the outside, oozing creamy filling inside. It was one hell of a mess but is it worth it? Absolutely yes! The only complain I had was the lack of espresso flavours. Otherwise, this makes the perfect dessert after a feast of amazing dishes around. They also have an extensive list of baguettes to choose from including some really innovative ones such as carbonara, and Adzuki lava which I cannot wait to try next time. 1 piece is sold for $3, 2 pieces for $4 and 6 pieces for $11.

It is rare to chance upon a hokkien mee that is cooked the dry style and it also happens to be my first time trying it. Usually the noodles come soaked in starchy sauce but the noodles at Hainan Hokkien Mee are like stir fried bee hoon and noodles.

The noodles were well seasoned and I like that it also retained some moisture. A decent amount of seafood is added for its price and the squid was especially delicious. I find the chilli on the side unique too, with what tasted like red onions in the blend. The spiciness felt harmless at first but slowly sets in towards the end. In general, a pretty good hokkien mee!

It's been a awhile since this raved burger store entered the scene and my never exhausting wishlist of food. I stay in the west, and Golden Mile Food Centre is really not the most convenient location for a meal. After much debate, I finally made my way down to try it for myself and taste if Burgs is indeed worth the hype.

Sandwhiched between the fluffy buns with the familiar logo is a sizeable patty with cheese, green bell pepper and to my surprise, fried shallots! The patty had a good char to the sides and was cooked to a good degree. The addition of shallots made the burger stood out more, giving it an extra pop of asian flavour with a delightful fragrance that lingered. Who knew that it would be such a phenominal combination?!

The fries were decent too, with options to dress it up with different sauces such as cheese and truffle cream. On a side note, they also sell their various fries ala carte so it is great if you just want to get some extra snacks to share. Considering the price point, Burgs is one of the best burgers around and I definitely  see myself returning for more of these.

To experience a part of thailand, Golden Mile Complex is the way to go! At this eatery tucked away in the corner of the first floor, a variety of typical thai dishes can be spotted on the menu. We ordered tom yum soup in small ($10), pineapple fried rice ($6), green curry fried rice($6) and pad thai($5).

Although the dishes did not meet up to my expectations, I have to say they did taste pretty authentic. I realised that the more authentic rendations of thai tom yum are not really spicy and are sweeter just like this one. Taste aside, the portions were generous and the seafood was good too. It also seems like we missed out on the star of the restaurant - thai beef noodles! If we are in the area again maybe we could give this place another go. Otherwise, average food but still a wallet friendly place to stop by for a meal.

Probably the best of the four dishes served, the noodles were moist and retained a good chewy level. The lime also gave the dish an extra sour zing that was satisfying. I do wish the dish came with crushed nuts though, and the bean sprouts should have been stir fried with the noodles. Not the best pad thai around the island but not a bad dish either!
