Many places can do fusion food, but not a lot can make it work like how Rouse does. A muslim-owned cafe, the industrial and grungy theme is rather raw here, with a bit of old-meets-new by retaining some features of its older tenant. The menu features a few Latin-American twists to typical brunch fare, such as the Quinoa Quake which is insanely tasty. A lot of emphasis has also been put in the coffee apart from its spectacular menu, with them working with Dutch Colony Coffee to create a blend unique to Rouse. Certainly a reward for those who specially make their way down to this small street within Jalan Besar.

Famously known as the cupcakes supplied to Penny University, these gorgeous creations come with a surprise filling in the middle, and delightfully unique flavor combinations. In a new brick-and-mortar space, Fluff serves 6 different flavors everyday, with the Red Velvet Nutella and Salted Caramel favourites being a mainstay. Other flavors include Ondeh Ondeh and Pineapple Tart. Get them early, they sell out quick! *Not Halal-certified, but Muslim-owned & Halal kitchen

And All Things Delicious is Tolido's Espresso Nook's newest neighbour, which offers a wide variety for halal-certified bakes such as Gula-Melaka Scones, Brownies and Galettes. The baker insists on using unprocessed ingredients such as unsalted butter organic ingredients so as to make their bakes taste more "natural" and it shows; clean yet flavourful treats indeed. They also share their shop space with Fictive Fingers that does pretty decent handprinted textile designs, if anyone is interested.

Not too bad for a first try of their baked rice (accompanied with the peach tea in a pot), would love to come back for more!

Some good and pretty filling burger and fries, accompanied with iced tea. Would love to come back and try some of their desserts!

About 9 different burgers to choose from, all veggie burger but they try to make it taste like meat (for the patty). Halal friendly!

I feel that this is the best place for desserts! Especially love their combinations of sweet and salted. What's better is that it's halal!

Originally from Malaysia, and now it's here! Some damn good filling pancakes, with some iced chocolate and iced mocha for the humid weather!
