You know the ramen craving: the urge for a piping hot creamy broth swimming with noodles and luscious char siew laid on top. And the seasoned softboiled egg that oozes pale orange gold when you cut it. Well Sanpoutei hits all the high points but wellll it won't have you shouting hallelujah you have found the holy grail of ramen. Hugely satisfying but not the best.

Honestly, I don't really get the hype over the wanton mee here. Tried it and it was all right, but a tad too oily for my liking. This stewed pork trotters rice however, was what got me wanting more. The meat was braised till melt-in-your-mouth soft and tasty. Yum!

Couldn't resist. Hah! But it was way too sweet cos of the icing on top.

Ordering the sea bream meant a 30 minute wait but boy was it worth it. Arriving steaming hot at our table, the fresh delicately flavoured fish was done just right with a crispy outer skin covering the succulent sweet flesh. And the accompanying salad and toast was not just an afterthought but was excellent in their own right, rounding off the meal with all the right notes.
