I may be a bit biased but I really liked this flavour-packed loaf as it is filled with some of my favourite ingredients. The darker rye base is the perfect canvas for the strong flavours. It's great toasted (then drizzled with EVOO), but just as good eaten straight from the bag.
If you're not too fond of hard crusts and dense sourdough, then Urban Loaf's style is for you. The crust and insides are soft with a nice bite, yet still crisp up well when toasted.
They are super generous with the fillings — we enjoyed this and the Apricot Fig Flaxseed. Next time, the Dark Chocolate Banana is on my list.
For the Classic, you get three types of bakkwa (sliced pork, sliced chicken and minced pork) and a glass of red Bordeaux (Chateau Ame de Musset).
There are 6-course ($19.90, with two wines) and 9-course ($28.90, with three wines) options too.
Enjoyed this paprika-kissed tomatoey stew filled with tiger prawns, mussels, squid and seabass fillet. They’re super generous with the amount of seafood and sauce, and it can easily feed two. Note that the seasoning’s on the heavier side, so you should probably order another rice to ladle the flavour-packed gravy on if you’re sharing.
Striploin slices slathered in mustard and a savoury gravy, plus the all the works in between charcoal buns. Menu said it comes with fries and a salad, but we got wedges instead (not that we’re complaining).
Got this for free with #BurppleBeyond!
Probably my favourite sourdough loaf (all things considered, esp when it comes to availability/ease of purchasing). Love the extra soft crumb, which is perfect if you’re not too fond of the super dense type of bread. It has a nice tang too!
Will try the semolina sourdough loaf next time.
Here’s another way to enjoy the tangy sourdough here. I usually prefer thinner crusts but I actually liked the almost bread-y one here. Thought the pepper slices will be roasted till soft, but we didn’t mind the slightly blistered strips atop the pie. It’s not greasy at all since there’s no cheese. Don’t let that sway you as the combination with the tomato sauce, oyster mushrooms, onions and basil is delish!
If you’ve patronised Real Food before, then this signature dish won’t be a stranger to you. Available fried or steamed, we opted for the latter and the parcels filled with finely diced shiitake mushrooms, carrots, tofu and beans and it didn’t disappoint. The skin’s not too thick and the dumplings are very moreish drizzled with tamari and sesame oil.
Loved this flavourbomb dish with white bee hoon soaking up the robust stock topped with massive fresh prawns that were perfectly cooked. The signature soup version is a flavourful alternative if you’re in the mood for something with broth. And yes, it’s customisable (noodle type, size of prawns, toppings, etc). Bonus points for the friendly service!
Really enjoyed this saucy bowl of noodles slicked in a punchy chilli sauce. The vinegar level is pretty mild, but well-balanced. The qq fishballs had a nice bite though the prawns used seem to be the frozen kind. Note that only the $5 and $6 portions have prawns.
Get a bowl of dumplings ($4/6) to share too!
I thought I would enjoy the Sea Salt Caramel just as much as the Salted Choc Chip, but its texture was more on the gritty side you often associate with non-dairy ice creams.
The flourless gluten-free cone made from almonds and flax seeds was a tasty discovery though and well worth the $1 top up!
If you like fudgy and moist brownies, then you will like the one here. We had ours with the Banana Walnut that paired well with the rich chocolatey base. For the two free toppings, we picked the quinoa crunch and toasted almonds for contrasting textures.
