Kept eating till my jeans felt tight.
For half portion duck & 2 chosen sides, it was really generous. Love the braised soy sauce, very addictive yet not cloying. We were served different cuts of duck for the portion 3-4 pax. The meat from bony parts were tender, but duck breast was a bit dry. The taukwa(beancurd) was really silky smooth & soaked up the braising sauce. It didn’t taste like the usual factory-made kind. The Fu Rong omelette’s texture tasted similar to Korean’s kimchi pancake, interesting and a bit cakey.
On a side note, the tableware was beautiful.
(#01-35) Recommended by my friends who regularly frequent this hawker centre. No regrets. For $3, you get both soup wantons & fried wantons. The noodles had a good bite. I also saw a pot of marinated char siew in the kitchen, so perhaps they prepare their own char siew too.
Heartland fresh roasts for $29.90++
Preferred the pork collars & chicken.
Water is chargeable.
Surpassed expectations with dishes coming at one-go once the last 2 guests arrived.
General consensus preferred the Signature Char Siew to Premium Slow-Roasted Char Siew. Think thick succulent slices of Char Siew with browned caramelised skin.
The crackling Pork Belly had a good meat-to-fat ratio, & was not too salty. Since pork belly is now rated as one of the top 10 nutritious foods in the world, why stop at 1 piece?
Charcoal Beancurd with Spinach and Wild Fungi was well-executed (not in photo). It had a smooth texture & came lightly seasoned. The tofu is made in-house according to online reviews.
As it was not too crowded, service was relatively attentive.
Love the broth which taste so homely, unlike the bigger chain stalls selling this craft. Fresh ingredients, al dente hand-torn mee hoon kueh, quick service - all adds up to a perfect bowl of handmade mee Hoon kueh. Perfect to end off Monday blues.
Loved the thin & golden-crusted Sheng Jian Bao 生煎包 skin, with meaty fillings (without the undesirable porky taste), drenched in slightly savoury broth. Nothing was too heavy on the palate. I love it & could have ordered another serving, but I actually had dinner before this.
For the original version, the cost is $5.50. Due to soft launch, you get everything at 20% off.
Prepared in an old-school way, with an ice blender which can only be spun manually. Managed to customise my order with more red beans & less gula melaka, at no additional cost. Portion is sufficient for the sweet note to end a long day.
Brewed for hours before serving according to food blogs. Juicy & fresh crayfish with homemade meatballs like no other, with tender dory fish to boot. Finished every drop of the soup.
Super thinly sliced yet tender beef ribs.
The Korean street skewers were a refreshing menu item.
Love the fluffy egg, it was a pity we had limited stomach space to finish all of it.
Brought me back to Korea for a while - much better than another famous kbbq near Tanjong Pagar.
Visited on a weekday night - no queue.
