Their loaves have a slight sweet taste to them, and are light and fluffy. Truly enjoyable, over the high protein flour breads that taste soulless and mass produced in the bakery chains. This family run bakery has been operating here for the past 5 decades, and is one of the major traditional bread suppliers to many coffeeshops and provision shops.
.
From the kneading and rolling process of the dough into a loaf, to the baking and slicing of bread, it was delightful to see human in action instead of a cold machine.
.
From the shopfront, you are able to see the standard squarish white bread as well as the traditional white bread on the second shelve. They also sell assorted buns like red bean, coconut, sugar coated breads and brown bread from as low as $1.50.
.
This is truly a great Singapore experience and this art should be preserved for generations to come. Comfort food at its best.

Simple but delicious marinated chicken wrapped and steamed in Chinese herbs. Chicken meat is tender and moist and a serving gives you thigh and drumstick. Definitely not the richest herbal chicken you can get but good enough if you need some 补 for the day in the industrial area.

The choux pastry here was moist and light, the filling was airy, with a generous dollop of whipped cream and fibrous chunks of D24 durian. Incredible delicious and heavenly!

The char siew here was very well-marinated and came adequately fat as requested (半肥) with charred edge for that burst of smokiness but not yet bitter. "Lor" was well balanced in taste and texture was with a slight herbal touch. Total for $3.50. Heard the sio bak is good too and has a good crackling to it. But need to resist and minimise unhealthy food intake hahaha maybe next time!

At $8, the soup has a generous serving of ingredients - minced meat, fish maw, lean pork, pork liver, seaweed, wanton, pork and fish balls, wolfberry, with eggs swirling in the cloudy broth. Despite the steep pricing, this dish is worth every penny. It has a natural sweetness, a very heartwarming dish on a rainy day like today. 🍜☔️⛈
.
The noodles on the side were pleasantly tasty and tossed in a savoury blend of sauces and fried garlic.
.
If you are a light eater or just not too hungry, you might want to share it with your other half, as the portions can be quite filling.

We have not visited since Jo moved to her new office. Here we have our food in takeaways as we wanted to escape the Amoy lunch crowd and chill at Telok Ayer Park for lunch. 😝
.
We are absolute suckers for anything ban mian. Noodles from the Dry Chilli Ban Mee ($4.50) here are nice and springy, with a good kick from the dry chilli mixture. We always ask for more but..they would add only a little more chilli lol. Other ingredients include poached egg (yes!), minced meat, black fungus, shallots and anchovies. They complemented the dish very well. Spinach soup on the side was really refreshing too, plain and simple.

Traditional flavours with many years of perfection, Uncle Koung cooked his egg noodles to the perfect texture, springy and with a good bite. The sauce mixture is light and savoury with a some heat from the special blend of chili which he fries himself.
.
Ratio of sauce to noodles is just right, clinging on the noodles without being too much. The char siew parts were neither tough nor dry, having been grilled over charcoal, giving a sweet and smoky flavour. Wantons are decent, soft and plump. The ingredients complement each other, and was a really satisfying dinner!
.
$4 for a standard order, with options for adding extra noodles or wantons.
