Decent Western food, esp. on Entertainer deals! Cali is a nice and cosy place to share a meal, even on a Saturday night, as it’s not crowded. We had the pepperoni pizza, which was standard fare, and the smoked duck carbonara, which wasn’t overly creamy and gelat. The truffle fries were really good (my fave) and topped off the whole meal. It was worth it as we had the Entertainer 1-for-1 deal, if not it might be a little pricey. Good to pay a visit if there are promos on! (To note, the Entertainer 1-for-1 deals are on the pasta, burgers, fajitas and pizza.)

Good meats and drinks! If you are looking for a place with decent food and drinks, Cali Bar is one place to consider! We ordered a couple of dishes and here are some of my favourites: Kurobuta Pork Loin Fajitas ($30) - this was the crowd favourite, due to the flavourful and rather tender meat, the smoky onion slices and guacamole that you can assemble in a wrap! Definitely 1 good fajitas that is good to share! Baby Back Ribs ($36) - the ribs itself may be rather small, but it was tender and flavourful. The fries were even better. Light, crispy and fluffy, I think I can eat a whole bowl without a problem! Baked Cheesy Nachos ($18) - this is one addictive snack. Crispy nachos with cheese, guacamole, salsa and jalapeno, this is one sharing dish that is great with beers! If you are working around the area, this is one place to consider for after work drinks. Double delight grilled fish - Chose 2 sauces — 𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙙 𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙞 and 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙩𝙤𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙤, half a whole fish was simmered on each side with cabbage. - I preferred the former as it tasted more multi-dimensional with a slightly tangy spicy profile while not being too salty! - My dad enjoyed the latter more for its lighter flavour though could’ve more tomatoes 🍅

Fresh coconut - Slightly sweet and I appreciated how it’s not sour, helped to wash down the grease and spice 🥥

226 Years Shoyu Recipe Ultimate Ramen This ramen place no need to introduce further for their famous fire performance, but their popularity has since quiet down. There’s only two table occupied when I came on weekday dinner time. When you order the signature ramen with their 226 years shoyu recipe, you get to choose whether you want to experience the fire show or not. If this is your first time then you should go for it at least once. Get your camera ready as they’re pouring the fire onto your bowl of ramen at the counter. This unique taste of ramen blended with their chicken broth and flaming Negi juice, an original shoyu ramen recipe from Kyoto. The ultimate ramen comes with chashu, pork slice, egg, seaweed and corns. The portion is available to choose from either regular or lite. So if you prefer to have lesser noodles, the lite portion will reduced to half of regular.

Disappointed Quite disappointed with the repeated order. The serving was lacking of abalone, blueberries , pear sticks, a pair of oranges in the second order and amount of vegetables and fruits was very little compared to first order. Was told by the staff there’s a surcharge for abalone which was not stated on the promotion poster next to the cashier! They were out of blueberries. In end my order was topped with abalone and a pair of oranges.

Laksa Set laksa (L) + muahchee + drink $16 + ($0.50 x 2 takeaway) 141 laksa was ok, maybe bc we didnt dine in. a lot of fishcake and beansprouts yum but the cockles were tinyyyy. chose the sour plum and barley drinks. sour plum is v gud muahchee is the normal muahchee with the crushed peanuts & sugar

Great Waffles Consistently good waffles here - love the texture, crispy on the outside! Always great as a comfort food

Ice Cream Flavours Are Not So Good... The dark chocolate ice cream here is rich and smooth, but the other flavours doesn't impress 😥 The salted caramel brownie is way too salty and the toasted marshmallow flavour gives a weird aftertaste that my friends rejected after a mouthful. Maybe the upside from this place is that the portion of ice cream is indeed pretty big!!

Desserts 𝘿𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙨: Good for sharing as these are big portions! We enjoyed both the fruit-focused red wine poached pear with lemon curd (3.5⭐️; $15) and apple galette (3.5⭐️; $15).

Barramundi 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢 𝐞𝐧 𝐩𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐞 (4⭐️; $25) - Well-timed tender fish with aromatic and balanced tomato and fennel sauce. Previously popular for their pastas, Eleven Strands has undergone a menu revamp with an extensive offering of delicious food and desserts.

Squid ink risotto 𝐒𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐨 (4⭐️; $24) - Richly savory risotto with seafood aroma, paired with crispy fried tentacles.

Not Fantastic Burpple Beyond deal was limited to only crab and seafood (mix of crab + lobster) rolls. I tried the Maine-style seafood roll. I liked the bread which was toasted and buttered, but I felt they could be more generous with the amount of lobsters (only 2-3 pieces in the roll). For $25 it is very pricey but thankfully we had the deal so it wasn’t so bad.

Lobster Rolls used beyond 1f1 deal and opted for the maine-style lobster rolls this time! very tasty and decent portion of lobster 😋 mentaiko version definitely worth trying if you’re a fan 👍🏻

Traditional poh piah Soft poh piah skin wrap and tasty filling. It’s small like most poh piahs and worth it with Burpple 1-for-1 deal. 👍

Tomato basil soup This soup is very tasty and tangy! Love it!

Wagyu Ribeye Set Squeezed in a final hotpot hurray at City Hot Pot before 2023 came to end! There is a one-for-one deal for the Wagyu Ribeye Set ($50.99) on Burpple Beyond, which is really worth it. The set comes with Wagyu ribeye beef, vegetable platter, your choice of soup and staple, and sauce. The thinly sliced beef is nicely marbled and I like that the vegetable platter has a good variety of vegetables, mushroom and beancurd skin. For the soup base, I chose Sichuan Spicy Soup (less spicy) and Fish Soup with Milk (+$1 for double soup base). The fish soup is flavourful and pretty good! The Sichuan spicy soup is a little too spicy for me😅 Staple wise, I had Braised Pork Rice (and Signature Ramen on another occasion) and both are nice. Glad to end the year with a hearty hotpot!

Quality ingredients and soup bases! A famous hot pot restaurant in the CBD area, City Hot Pot offers a wide variety of soup bases and ingredients! We had the Australian Rib-eye set (1 for 1 with #burpplebeyond ) and it came with a variety of ingredients! For the soup base, we got the fish soup with milk and the prawn base (+$3). The fish soup base was quite light tasting at the start, but was adequately flavourful towards the end of the meal. The prawn base was very rich, full of seafood and shallot flavour. That is one soup base I couldn't stop drinking! The Australian rib-eye itself was very tender. As for the carbs, you can choose from a variety, and we got the hand pulled noodles and braised pork rice. The hand pulled noodles just needs a minute or less of cooking in the soup for a wonderful bouncy texture. The braised pork rice was rich and hearty! After adding on drinks, the total bill was about $72 for 2. For the experience and quality ingredients, I will be back!

Value for money Wagyu beef set Ordered the 1 for 1 Wagyu beef set using the burpple beyond and it was really worth it. Lots of fresh ingredients and condiments. Total bill was less than $60 for 2 pax.
