The End Of An Era I knew I had to visit “Ah Bong’s Italian” one more time before Chris moved on to his next venture. Having been really busy of late, it’s only today, on his last day of operations, that I made it. The place was packed as many customers came to have one more dose of his style of Italian cooking.
We started with the Comfort Eggs, that simple but very appetising combination of wobbly soft eggs with sausage, mushrooms sautéed in garlic and topped with grated cheese. This has been such a popular must-have that whenever you arrived late, the risk of having it sold out was high.
After some deliberation, the two pastas we went with were the Sausage Pomodoro, a straight-up Italian dish and the Shoyu Burro, a fusion creation with Japanese soya sauce, Danish butter, chicken, chili and vegetable. Both were part of the amazing value lunch sets (inclusive of a drink and dessert) priced at $12 and $16 respectively,
Thanks again Chris for giving us tasty and very reasonably-priced pastas and other items all these years! I am sure there are many who still remember having their first taste of @ahbongsitalian at your coffeeshop hawker stall in Tiong Bahru.
