My friends recommended this dish to me and I didnāt believe them when they told me that they were very generous with the rice and meat. When I got my food, I was surprised that there really was SO much meat and rice, even though the price is so affordable at $3! The picture really doesnāt do this dish justice, and I really recommend this if you are hungry and looking for food around Woodlands Industrial Park.
Original and Strawberry had all run out when we went at around 8pm so I decided to try out the Matcha Cheese Toast! ($3.80)
Took a big bite and was not disappointed by how stretchy the cheese was. (Youāll definitely be able to take lots of cute cheese pull photos š) The Cheese is creamy and sweet, probably because itās made from Hokkaido Milk.
For me, I couldnāt taste the matcha taste at all as it was overshadowed by the cheese. The bread is also slightly dry as I found myself really thirsty after eating this. However, it was still pretty good and Iāll go back again to try it out in different flavours!
Youāll be able to spot this stall from far away from its snaking long queues. Be prepared to wait up to an hour or more during peak dinner times. We still had to wait 20 minutes even though we went pretty late after at around 8.30, a testament to the stalls popularity.
The best Hokkien Mee Iāve had, Yi Shengās food is well worth the wait. The noodles are chewy and have soaked up the savoury prawn broth, and you get a generous portion of squid and two juicy prawns in a plate of noodle. Their homemade sambal belacan is also really good and gives the noodles a nice kick. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who would love a good plate of Hokkien Mee!
Got this with the Burpple Beyond one for one, however I was pretty disappointed. They only allow you to get regular cups with the promotion so you canāt get the sets with many different toppings. Seeing the photos and the pretty purple colour of the ice cream, I had pretty high expectations so I was thoroughly disappointed when the ice cream had almost no sweet potato taste whatsoever. The sea salt could still be tasted in the mixed cup, but the purple side could very well have been vanilla ice cream. For its regular price of $6.50 a cup, I would definitely not purchase again. Also, the server asked if I wanted gold/silver flake toppings and I happily agreed thinking they were a set of toppings. It was my own fault for not double checking as they were not, and were really gold/silver leaves which did nothing to help hide the plainness of the ice cream. Gold flakes cost an additional $4 which I did not check beforehand which made my total $10.50.
Got the 1 for 1 dons at Kogane Yama with burpple beyond š This Mentaiko Don itself was $18.90 and was super worth it to get with the promotion. The seaweed is crispy, and a light layer of furikake is hidden beyond the generous helping of seaweed and mentaiko. I normally donāt eat a lot of rice but I gobbled everything down so quickly I almost got indigestion. I loved how you can eat it as a rice bowl, then pour in the hot soup you are given to switch up the style and eat it as a hot soupy item. The mentaiko was really tasty and became a nice gravy with rice once I poured in some soup halfway through.
$8.50 for a slice, this cheesecake may not be cheap but itās flavour is worth its price! Itās light and fluffy with a strong yet not overpowering matcha taste. Itās great for a dessert after a filling meal as itās not the kind of heavy cheesecake where you canāt continue after a few bites because itās too thick? I enjoyed it a lot as I donāt really like the spongey light cheesecake yet the heavy New York cheesecake styles are a bit too heavy for me, so this creamy green tea cheese cake was perfect!
Finally tried this after so long! And it really lives up to expectations. Mouth-wateringly spicy, I was tearing up and sniffling but couldnāt stop eating. I think my tolerance of spicy is pretty normal, not too high or low and äøč¾£ was just nice for me!
There are actually two stalls in peopleās park complex, the one inside normally always has a shorter queue so take note if you donāt want to queue for too long!
We spent $15 for this portion and it was just nice for two people.
The soft serve ice cream from Mr Bean is hands down my šš favourite šš soft serve ever. Even when Iām on a diet this is always an exception I would make.
However their black soy ice cream didnāt taste any different from their normal ice cream to me, or perhaps my tastebuds are not perceptive enough to catch the difference. It miiigght have been a little thicker and heavier than the normal soya ice cream but then again on different days or at different stores the soya ice cream itself can be thicker or more watery so Iām not too sure about that.
$2.10 for a cone and $2.40 for a cup
Salmon Samurai letās you customise your own salmon bowls and the concept is pretty similar to poke bowls except that they specialise in salmon.
I got the salmon mentaiko along with the mixed salad base with avocado and an onsen egg. They are really generous with the amount of salad but not much so with the salmon. The salmon was really good though, slightly seared with a generous helping of mentaiko. I felt that the sauce provided with the salad was slightly too strong for my tastes so be careful when pouring in the sauce given!
Add-ons are a must as the bowl is rather plain, youāll only get salmon and your veggies with 3 cherry tomatoes.
Each bowl is $9.90 but add-ons cost more so with the avocado and onsen egg my bowl came up to $12.40.
If youāre a fan of green tea, Tsujiri is the place to go! All things green tea are sold here from drinks to floats to parfaits. I got the Houjicha float because itās my favourite tea. The soft serve on top is flavourful and creamy, and overall just really great. However one thing to note is that the floats are more like a dessert than a beverage, so if youāre looking for something to quench your thirst this is not it! I was pretty thirsty at the moment so this drink was a little too thick for me.
$6.50 for the one with O-Matcha ice cream, and slightly cheaper for Vanilla ice cream
For four days from 14-17 June, Chillax Asia is having a food convention at Suntec! One of the stalls there is First Brew, a stall promoting healthy eating. Iāve never had overnight oats that tasted this good before. The oats were soaked in their Chia Seed Almond Plus drink, which has a really nice aromatic almond taste. Itās not too sweet and just right, and can be drunk on its own or added to make oats.
I tried their black sesame drink too and it was really good, will definitely stock up on these so I can make oats myself at home!
Honeymoon dessert used to be our favourite family haunt in the past but with so many new desserts popping up all over Singapore weāve not been back here in a while.
First thing we noticed was the price! Itās a lot more expensive than in the past sadly but their menu has a lot of new items now.
This coconut jelly was decent, the coconut taste was not strong enough and was overpowered by the vanilla ice cream. The mango pieces were also pretty inconsistent, and some pieces were extremely sour.
For $11.95, I doubt Iāll ever be trying this again. Next time Iāll probably go back to the standard menu which weāve tried and tested before such as the pancakes and almond pastes
