Earl Grey Waffles (Dec '15) Before Atlas Coffeehouse, there was Assembly nestled along the stretch of Evans Road. If you've been there before, I'm sure you'd know that one of the highlights of their menu was their Earl Grey Waffles with vanilla ice-cream and caramel drizzle. Quality stuff, as far as I can recall. Also, I must say that I'm quite impressed because this picture was untouched when I found it in my gallery.

Salted Caramel Earl Grey Waffle Great place for hanging out with friends and a good ol' cuppa. The beans are imported so it's quite authentic.

Salted Caramel + Chocolate Strawberry Waffles We had the salted caramel waffles and the chocolate strawberry waffles, both priced at $12 each. They were really good and the waffles were crispy but fluffy on the inside. I enjoyed both waffles but I definitely liked the salted caramel waffles a lot more! However, you have to walk a bit if you're getting here by public transport.

Double Scoop Waffle I got double scoops (cookies & creme/earl grey) to go along with waffles dusted with cinnamon and icing sugar which includes a choice of chocolate/maple/salted caramel sauce. Both flavours complemented well with the waffle. The texture of the waffles was crispy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside 》$14

Double Scoops Salted Caramel x Hojicha ($9.50) I did proposed to walk there for ice cream lol but it's such a long journey tbh. But then I didn't regretted to do that bc their location was out of the way for trying their ice cream. But their signature flavour (Salted Caramel) just felt me "wow" and savoury taste whereas their tea flavour was just meh like milky and not much roasted tea taste tbh.

Salted Caramel🍨 Went to Salted Caramel recently and ordered a double scoop Earl Grey and Lemon Cheesecake ($8.50)😇 Still one of my favourite ice cream joints and tried several different flavours but all are good😍 Overall ratings 10/10 definitely coming back again!!

Plain Ole Chocolate From Creamier Let’s indulge a plain ole chocolate ice cream cone and get blown away by its rich, dark, and smooth flavour. The texture is creamy and velvety, coating the taste buds with chocolatey goodness. The best part? It's only $4.90! What a steal for such high-quality handcrafted ice cream. Note: Contains dairy, so not suitable for those with dietary restrictions.

Butterscotch almond Buttery rich with a caramel flavour, enjoyed the roasted almond bits within which gave a fragrant nuttiness. [5.5/10]

Hokey pokey Vanilla base mixed with honeycomb crumbs coated with white chocolate adding a crunch though sweetness was rather overpowering, very creamy and melted quickly. [5/10]

Big Breakfast ($20.80)

Shakshuka ($17.80) I did passby this cafe before (probably in the past) the sourdough was quite crispy and crunchy to dip with tomato sauce inside shakshuka. But the tomato sauce was quite sour and not that spicy taste.

Savoury waffles Stack of waffles with candied bacon 🥓 and a scoop of ice cream. Extremely indulgent start to the day. The waffles were crisp yet fluffy (thankfully) and therefore eased off some of the heaviness which would have came along with the candied bacon and ice cream (a lil’ too sweet for the morning!) Nevertheless, a good meal of savoury and sweet delights!

Ondeh ondeh hotcake [$15] After the descent of Earl grey charcoal hotcake, ondeh ondeh hotcake is back on the menu once again! ✨ Pandan flavoured hotcake embedded with salted coconut ricotta creme, topped with Pandan coconut gelato, sprinkled with toasted coconut flakes and served with a side of gula melaka sauce. A deconstructed and revamped version of the Peranakan kueh that we are all familiar with, the hotcake was soft, fluffy with a slightly crisp surface layer that carries off a lingering aromatic pandan essence and fragrance. The texture was done to an ideal perfection- soft, light and sufficiently moist 💖. Unfortunately the salted ricotta creme got outshone by the distinct Pandan essence, harbouring a negligible effect to the overall flavour unless you were to consume it in silo. The colour of the Pandan coconut gelato got me turned off initially with an artificial shade of neon green but fortunately the taste did not disappoint, a pleasant sweetness of coconut that was also refreshing though the texture could have been better if it was smoother and less icy. The toasted coconut flakes added a crisp, fibrous mouthfeel to the hotcake, a complimentary and perfect pairing to the hotcake, where the resemblance to ondeh ondeh kicks in. Peanut butter & Jelly French Toast [$15] . And so... today marks the end of @artistrycafesg ‘s service and operations 👋🏻😭. Apart from the brunch, one thing I would miss most is this French Toast that surprisingly far exceeded my expectations, officially one of the best I have ever had (apart from @sarabethsofficial that I tried in Taiwan). Had initially wanted to try it last weekend, but it was already sold out by 12pm😭. Came back on a Friday afternoon (and reserved this just in case) which certainly did not disappoint, to which both my dining and I enjoyed it truly, polishing it off in no time, although she doesn’t even have a sweet tooth in the first place, unlike me. The brioche toast soaked in spiced custard was soft, fluffy with a pillowy texture that is filled with peanut butter and raspberry jam. A nutty, roasted flavour and aroma coupled with a subtle tartness from the fruity jam, it was clearly a winning combination that surprisingly didn’t turn out to be overwhelming or saccharine as expected! 💖 Served with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream that was smooth, creamy with a fragrant milky flavour, the addition of the mixed berry coulis provided a tinge of acidity; a good counter balance to the other sweeter elements. Melts in the mouth in a very mildly sweet taste, notes of earthiness and a bitter matcha finish. Legit matcha cake that I will buy again on my next visit. Banana Chocolat 5.3nett Fluffy chocolate meringue with cream that was quite sweet. Loved the crispy outside and cake consistency inside but the banana flavour could have been more pronounced

Royale Souffle Looks classic isn't it? Cakes from Patisserie Glace has never disappoint me. This cake is a combination of souffle layered in between strawberry shortcake. The fruits used to decorate the cake is fresh and inside the cake you find fresh strawberries too! It's not thinly sliced nor bits of it. It's actually halved strawberry in it. Seems creamy but the cream is light. Not too rich in taste/ texture. Pre-order for 15 persons at $90 + $2 for chocolate wording and discount of $3. At $89, it is pricey but it comes with quality assured. Worth to check out its variations of cakes available.

Naan (SGD $9) @ Bar Bar Black Sheep. With 3 independent kitchens, including a North Indian focused kitchen, this watering hole is a relaxed night-time dining spot. . Their rendition is soft fluffy chewy in texture, tearing apart easily. While the plain version exudes smoky bready sweet savoury flavour, the garlic version studded with minced garlic and fresh coriander exudes smoky bready savoury vegetal bitter herbal spice flavour. . . . Affordable Restaurant-Adjacent Thai And Indian Food; Casual Vibes; Great Drinks Menu [ Food Review — Ever been to a coffeeshop bar? ] What are two things that my neighbourhood is lacking in? 1) Coffeeshops, and 2) bars. And I guess that’s why Bar Bar Black Sheep decided to set up shop here — the dearth of both makes it the perfect fit! I’m not particularly fond of coffeeshops (until we have a smoking ban), and I haven’t been bar hopping since my uni days (allergies, phooey). So what brought me to the confluence of two things I’m not all that partial to? (Hint: I a m a food insta) The food ofc! Gonna preface this by saying the food isn’t exceptional; what it does have is a mix of eastern-western food options that is right up my alley, served with a surplus of cool drinks on the side, and packaged in a casual atmosphere that’s walkable from mine. Check, check, and check! After Omakase Burger closed at Turf City, I was devastated. But after it took up residency at BBBS, right next to Thai, and Indian food stalls — both of which have pretty robust menus as well — I had to swing by one day for a bite of that crunchy sala-, I mean…burger. Cause some of the ingredients inside are crunchy. Despite being branded as a coffeeshop-bar, don’t expect the prices to be near hawker fare. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing: Sans OB (which has only gotten pricier), the Thai and Indian stalls serve up restaurant-adjacent dishes with pretty substantial portions. I’m going to skip on a OB review since I did one a couple while back (refresher: 100% get the salad; pretty good, albeit kinda small, burgers with fluffy buns). My winner for the night: Aloo gobi. Cooked to order, it arrived in a tantalising lil mountain of vibrant colours, and even more vibrant aroma. We spent most of our stay plucking studs of potato and cauliflower from it; we could have just gotten this and paired it with rice and another side and be done — that’s how hefty a portion it was! The prawn cakes weren’t about to be outdone too. The crust was gold and thin, and the interior was moist and sweet — it was the perf snack to end on, esp when eaten hot. A lil pricey for 3-pc, but if you want to share a main instead, their fried rice and noodles is responsible for feeding >50% of the tables!

Sinful Delights You know the drill by now at Bar Bar; choose from the Indian, Thai or the burger kitchen. This is the butter chicken with plain naan (approx 20 sgd). Soft morsels of chicken, rich creamy sauce and the most consistent naan breads to mop it up. Comfort food done well. Great beers also!
