The ones I've had the misfortune to have eaten in Singapore were mushy, overly sweet and I'd normally stay away from these like the plague, but seeing as I was in Inari, I figured what better time to sample them than now.

Named after the Shinto god Inari, whose fox messengers are believed to have a fondness for fried tofu, the thin tofu pouch itself was fresh, slightly crunchy and leagues above whatever pale imitations I've tasted back home.
Filled with sushi rice then pimped up with tender unagi, preserved ginger, Japanese pepper, finely shredded omelette and pea pods, they made a perfect light snack before our long trek up to the summit of Fushimi Inari.

Fun fact: Inarizushi rolls have pointed corners that resemble fox ears.
