Cafe Hopping SG - East
Ondeh Ondeh pancakes - a tad too sweet, but overall taste and texture was enjoyable. Truffled mushroom and his Ang moh breakfast. Pretty typically kind of cafe food. Needs to do more to stand out. I didn't like their brewed coffee though.
The ice cream here is definitely gonna be mouth-gasmic. So flavorful, creamy and smooth. So many unique flavors like beer butter, hay and honey.... Even the pistachios that they use to make the ice cream is from Italy. Talk about quality. Missed their charcoal waffles and plated dessert šŖ but here's a legit reason to go back then hehe.
Beans are from Dutch colony. Pastries are supplied from BAO again. Pretty decent coffee. Too much cafe sprouting out with the coffee supplied from pretty common roasters as well as the pastries. So IMHO, to stand out, your interior and service has to be really good. Otherwise the hype won't last. (I'm talking about cafes with just coffee and pastries of course)
Australian Wagyu Ribeye Steak Grade 6/7 (bottom left) - best served medium rare. Well seasoned and the mash that comes with it is just mmhmm. The carvers plate (top right hand corner) - came along with lamb (I forgot which part) Not a fan of the lamb cause there's the smell of lamb (if you know what I mean lol) but the rest was pretty good. Beer battered fish and chips - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside! Good taste, worth the price paid. Yumz. Roast pumpkin egg plant (top left) - not a fan of vegetables but the rest found it pretty good so I guess it was a passed. Haha. Enjoyed my visit here again. Love the coffee. Well balanced cup of magic using beans from Melbourne (just a slight tinge of acidity - love it!!!) love how the barista there actually knows his stuff
Super friendly owners who are jovial and warm. Totally brings up the atmosphere, making you feel so comfortable and at home. Serving Papa Palheta's Terra Firma which leaves a slightly brighter after taste (for my piccolo latte) compared to the usual throwback I've had. But when balanced (in the case of latte) it tastes pretty similar to throwback š š (lousy tongue I've) btw ITS A MUST TO ORDER THE ICED CHOCOLATE ITS REALLY THE BOMBZ OKKK and the Bananoffe cake šš Pastries are supplied by BAO (what's new?) haha if it's not in the east, I'll probably frequent them pretty often.
Another new cafe in the East serving beans from Papa Palheta. Latte (Throwback beans) The PB spread on the toast tasted like what you would eat in a traditional "min jiang kueh", I would say its a creative mix but nothing out of the world actually šš
Arrived at 4 so they did not serve neither brunch nor dinner so I was restricted to 4 choices of finger food. To be on the safer side, I ordered the truffle fries. Although served hot, the fries were too oily (don't think the oil was hot enough when they fried the fries) and half of them were soggy (I don't know why). Wouldn't recommend this. But I'll probably be back for the brunch/dinner menu. Looks pretty decent.
A relatively new cafe in the East. Rather than the usual small transparent glass cup, they serve their piccolo in a 5 ounce cup. 2 ounce of espresso and 3 ounce of milk - found out from the barista that this is also the ratio of "magic" āŗļøāŗļø their beans are from Common Man
