Best Korean in Singapore

From Jjajangmyeon to Budae Jjigae (Halal option included!) to Korean fried chicken and Gamjatang— here are the best of Singapore's thriving Korean food scene. Be prepared to feast!

Drop by this casual dining spot on Tanjong Pagar Road for authentic Korean grub. Order their famous Jjajangmyeon ($12, $2 for more noodles) for soft noodles bathed in a luscious sweet and salty black bean sauce. Otherwise, opt for the soupier but equally delicious Jamppong ($14) that sees noodles in a spicy seafood broth that is incredibly addictive. For larger groups, fill the table with their delectable Ginseng Chicken Soup ($18), Seafood Spring Onion Pancake ($20) and Steam Egg ($5). To avoid waiting, come during off peak hours.

Note this one down for dinner and drinks with your mates. To go with your jug of Makgeolli ($28), order their tender Grilled Pork Belly ($26) that comes with kimchi and a side salad drenched in a creamy anchovy-filled dressing. Another crowd favourite is the Seafood Rapokki ($22) that sees a rich and slightly spicy stew of ramyeon, topokki, shrimp mussels, squid and Korean fishcake blanketed in melted mozzarella.

Come in groups of four for after-work dinner and drinks in Holland Village. Order their Dweji Suyuk Bossam ($33) for a satisfying dish of super tender pork buried in kimchi. Also good is their Budae Jjigae ($48) with tofu, sausages, ham, enoki mushrooms, korean dumplings, leek, spring onions, cheese and ramyeon. Psst. They offer a great selection of banchan (think baby potatoes and fresh kimchi that is unbelievably refreshing) so be sure to leave some space for that!

Round up the gang and prepare to get your hands dirty at this Korean joint in Suntec City. Get their Deep Fried Chicken ($3.90 for one, $11 for three, $21 for 6) that comes in five different flavours — garlic, soya sauce, sweet & sour, spicy, and honey glaze. Expect super crisp batter that breaks apart to reveal tender and juicy meat. If you only have space for one, go for the spicy flavour that carries quite a punch whilst being the perfect combination of sweet and savoury!

Can't decide between Western or Korean for dinner? Combine the two in this classed up burger joint in Wisma Atria. Order the Korean Bulgogi Burger ($13.80) that sees a juicy beef patty slathered in a special bulgogi glaze topped with caramelised onions and creamy mayo. Alternatively, go for the Truffle Burger ($21) or their Avocado Bacon Cheeseburger ($17.20). Be sure to order a side of Yangnyeom Fried Chicken (from $9.20) for sharing!

Hidden in a maze of Korean restaurants on Tanjong Pagar Road, this joint may not stand out. However, once you find it you'll be faced with an amazing Tteokbokki ($28.90) stew which sees tteok with fried chicken, glass noodles, instant noodles, quail eggs and fish cakes. For an extra cheese topping add on the Cheese Fall ($5.50)! For sides get their Giant Mandus ($12) and Fish Cake Soup ($8) for a truly authentic experience!

Housed in Plaza Singapura, this restaurant is great for soup lovers. Go straight for the hearty and mega flavourful Gamjatang (from $15.90) with tender pork ribs, potatoes and enoki mushrooms — perfect with a bowl of rice. Also good is their Cheese Mandu Tteokbokki ($16) and the 2-in-1 Jjigae ($20), where you can choose two flavours from kimchi, gochujang or bulgogi. Fun fact: they have a new grilling station and a free-flow banchan bar!

Jot this family-run Korean joint just a two-minute walk from Beauty World MRT down for comforting post-work dinners. Opt for the satisfying Sundubu Jjigae ($10).Perfect for a warm evening is their Bibim Naengmyeon ($16) that sees chewy, flavourful and refreshing cold noodles. Pair your mains with rice or fill up on their free-flow banchan— standouts include the macaroni and the fishcakes!

Easties, swing by Downtown East for slightly sweet and spicy Budae Jigae ($13.90 per pax with a min. of two pax). Choose two main ingredients from chicken sausage, sliced beef, cheese, mushrooms or mussels — a good combination would be cheese with mussels. The stew comes with tteokbokki, odeng, kimchi and eggs. Pro-tip: Do not leave the stew boiling for too lest the ingredients start sticking to the bottom of the pot!

Pop by this hole-in-the-wall restaurant for an affordable lunch with the fam. Get the Kimchi Soup ($8) for a rich and flavourful broth filled with kimchi, pork and tofu. If you're getting solo sets, opt for their comforting Fried Saba Set ($8) for a meal of rice, soup, fried saba and kimchi. Alternatively, go for their Tender Sliced Beef ($10.50) or fill up on their super yummy Bibimbap ($8).
