Ordered the S$13 portion which the stall uncle recommended, good for 2pax.

Comes with tender juicy chicken chunks, chinese sausage, salted fish and veges. Pour the oil and dark soy sauce provided and mix it all up.

I like the rice texture; not too soft or hard. Best part is the crispy rice at the bottom. Overall, will eat this again 👍

You must have a back-up plan or have the patience to wait in case the waiting time gets too long.

Fortunately, we found a hidden gem in the food centre, also selling claypot rice which is almost as good as Lian He Ben Ji, and definitely better than many out there. The best parts are that the waiting time isn’t that long and prices are almost similar to the portion. For the $12 portion, it is good for 2 pax which comes with a reasonable portion of rice, silky chicken chunks, Chinese sausages and the umami salted fish bits. Pour in some dark soy sauce and oil when served, give it a good mix and enjoy this comforting dish.

With an origin story link to lian he ben ji, expectations were High on my part. Definitely did not disappoint.

Portion was quite big for $10, just nice for a big eater like me.

Salted fish amount was just right, chicken was soft and tender.

Will return again.

Waited about 10mins on a weekday dinner.

This is my first time trying Zhao Ji Claypot Rice ($20 for 3-4 pax) at Chinatown Complex Food Centre (#02-53) and it’s actually pretty decent! The chicken is very tender and smooth and the bits of salted fish and lap cheong (Chinese sausage) add flavour and oomph to the fragrant claypot rice. There is a nice char at the bottom of the claypot but the rice remains moist. Good stuff!

Sadly, they had run out of claypots so it was served separately as rice & chicken on plates. But this didn’t diminish the quality as the rice still had the nice crisp and half-burntness from the claypot. The chicken was also well-done, being tender and flavorful.
Meant for sharing, the smallest portion is $10 which is a bit on the pricey side in comparison to the rest of food here.

The chicken meat were cooked to tender perfection & the portion was also very generous!

There are at least 3 stalls here in Chinatown Complex Hawker Centre that sells claypot rice. While this stall is not the most popular (that honour belongs to Lian He Ben Ji), they have their own set of loyal fans. Underrated claypot rice gem!
