Thin pies are really the way to go!

Loaded with bacon bits, cheddar, house-made tomato sauce, spinach, eggs and mozzarella cheese, it's breakfast (for dinner) at its best! A foolproof combo, Yeast Side’s Bestside Breakfast ($22) pizza had a decent tang and a good chew. The spotted crust added a nice flavour and offered a pleasantly light bite. And due to the thinness of the base, I enjoyed rolling up the slices from crust to point like a roulade and stuffing myself with the savoury toppings.

Cafe with beer tap wall, showcasing array of beers to pick from. I don’t drink, so I grabbed White Cold Brew ($6) instead. I like the savoury combination of the scone, it would be a great pick when paired with beers

The Black Cold Brew (S$5.50) was poured directly from a re-purposed milk carton into a cup of ice. While the beans used by Yeast Side did not yield astringent coffee, I was quite glad that the ice cubes did not further dilute the drink, if not I might be drinking coffee water already.

Many might question why a circular croissant or “croll”, or in Yeast Side’s case — swirl — would cost S$10.00 per piece.

In my opinion, the Vanilla Pistachio Swirl was just very nicely executed, with a “ thousand layer” buttery croissant pastry in the shape of a wheel, and with pistachio vanilla custard filling inside and some fancy rose petals on the surface. Just all that nutty goodness and the texture from the exterior made my tea break feel so upscale.

One the better end of year meals of 2022 were these lovely sourdough pies from Yeast side.
We first had an oriental and european flavor each in the 1) Viet Ga which replicates Vietnamese Banh Mi with chicken chunks 2) Prosciutto and Arugula - faultless pizza ingredients. The star of the pies here lies in the sourdough crust, light, nothing unctuous yet paradoxically substantial.
I also thought probably sourdough Banh Mi might become a thing with this Viet Ga.
Because our sides of burrata salad, to clock in some greens; tater tots and roasted octopus left us wanting for more, we ended off our meal with a foursome honey, 4 cheese pizza with a drizzle of sweetness :)

The are rotating beer taps at Yeast Side to pair your food with some draft craft beer think brewlander, heart of darkness for those familiar with Asian craft breweries; my chosen poison was the Duncan's x One Drop - Blueberry Cherry Pastry Sour, tangy slightly sweetened and refreshing, how I like my booze ✨
