First time trying Thai Kway chap and I was pleasantly surprised! I loved the peppery broth which was a refreshing change from the herbaceous flavour, reminding me of a bak kut teh broth. But the ingredients in Thai Kway chap were also interesting, with pork slices, pork belly, and fish sausage - all of them were very good!! Really liked the Kway here as well, soft but slightly chewy, and they come rolled up which makes it easy to eat with just a spoon.

I love this so much I ordered a plate of it.

I'm not a fan of Thai kway chap and not a fan of this brand, but I followed the girlfriend this time and was fulfilled enough lah. I don't remember it this cheap and although I still don't like the kway and the soup, the ingredients were good. Thai fish sausage is such a cheat code.

Rainy weather comfort food โ˜”๐Ÿ’“

Open till 2.30am daily, this popular supper spot is a short walk from Kovan MRT. Here's what we tried!

Brewed with 15 different Thai spices, the clear pepper-based soup is served with curled up rolls of kway (broad sheets of rice noodles). Don't be fooled by its unassuming appearance because the broth sure packs a punch with its strong peppery flavour ๐Ÿ”ฅ

We ordered the signature version, which comes with thai fish sausage, lean meat, offals and deep-fried pork belly. For non-spicy eaters who still wish to try their sides, consider the plain rice option to go along!

Well-cleaned, the fried offals proved to be an addictive snack! Though prices have increased over the years, this is still a side dish that's worth adding on for ๐Ÿท

We had an enjoyable meal at the Upper Serangoon outlet (they also had one at tampines, and Holland Village sadly those are not around anymore). Head over to enjoy a taste of Thai street food ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ญโœจ

What a peppery and flavourful dish! The clear soup is pepper based and tastes quite similar to our bakuteh soup, making it a tasty accompaniment to the cute little curled up silky kway rolls, which were a joy to eat. It was topped with Thai fish sausage (my first time having it and it was good!), fried pork belly, pig offal and sliced pork.

All of this for the price of $5 is really worth it. We visited the place on a weekend evening and had to wait about 15-20minutes for our food. Itโ€™s 30 cents more for takeaway.
