Have been to Shaanxi Noodles (寻秦记) here at Tiong Bahru a few times and though I can’t say they are the best as we’ve had a mix of hits and misses, you get pretty decent Chinese food here. Prefer their 油泼扯面 more than their Biang Biang Noodles, the noodles have not bad a bite and were pretty springy with a slight spice. The larger portion is at $7. Skip their rou jia mo 肉夹馍 as it was unfortunately quite dry.
In descending order of favourite to least favourite dish, we ordered the signature biang biang noodles, minced pork noodles in sour spicy soup, spicy stir fry noodles (pictured) and chinese hamburger.
I really liked the springiness of the noodles here, feels very handmade. Each dish had different shapes/sizes of noodles! The sour spicy soup was quite salty though and I can’t imagine someone finishing a whole bowl by themselves. Spicy stir fry noodles was not spicy at all and had a lotttt of bell pepper. Tasted like a milder version of the biang biang noodles. The Chinese hamburger which had some shredded pork inside, was not good in my opinion.
Our favourite which we’d come back for is the biang biang noodles. I’d love to try the sesame noodles too next time.
Bought a ShopBack voucher so we got this at $1! First time trying rou jia mo so didn’t have that much to compare to. Bread had a decent crust but thought the pork filling could be juicier to balance it out better, as it was quite dry. Filling was also quite porky, so it may not be for everyone. It’s pricey at its original price tag.
The noodles were thick and chewy. The tomato flavour is rich and there are quite a lot of ingredients too.
The bun was rather dense and the minced meat was pretty tasty.
These noodles were slightly chewy and very refreshing with a slightly spicy flavour. It can also be ordered as a set with the Chinese handburger and a drink too.
