I recently tried this Yuzu Calpis Soda from the Japan series at XFT and was pleasantly surprised. I mean, not that surprised because I know what Calpis tastes like and I love it, but mixed with soda and in the form of ā€œbubble teaā€? Actually, it was great. I havenā€™t tasted something like this before and for it to come from a bubble tea shop was interesting.

I like the touch of creaminess that the Calpis brings to this drink and the fun side from the fizzyness of the soda. I went for the yuzu flavour as I thought that would be quite a Japanese combination. I found the drink much lighter than the usual milk teas because the Calpis does the trick of giving you that milky colour and creamy taste but without being as filling as milk. There also wasnā€™t an excessive amount of Calpis, so despite being lactose intolerant this was alright for my stomach. The yuzu purĆ©e at the bottom was yummy and provided the drink with enough flavour without overpowering - I could still taste all the individual components of this drink: yuzu, Calpis, and soda. As for the pink grape flavoured jelly inside, I couldnā€™t really taste any grape flavour in it but it was quite a light jelly to begin with.

Iā€™d be keen to try the other flavours in this Calpis series but could do without the pink grape flavoured jelly, as it didnā€™t add much to the drink overall.

was so excited to find out they were opening in sg after trying in taiwan! personally felt it wasnā€™t as good (?) but could be simply because iā€˜m not overseas šŸ˜… nevertheless pearls could be softer but brown sugar was yummy! one of the more pricey bbt in the market but worth a try~

Not a huge fan of brown sugar drinks cos some places makes it overly sweet and so I was quite skeptical when purchasing this.

For XFT, I was able to taste the fragrant brown sugar when sipping on my fresh milk

Drink was rather enjoyable and not too sweet.

Pearls were rather inconsistent in texture with some being harder than the rest. Not sure if it cos I bought it in the morning and the pearls not soaked long enough ??

So cutee the drinks ! mango smoothie with the white rabbit jelly on top hehe

While the brown sugar bobba milk is most well known for at Xing Fu Tang, health conscious people will be glad to know that they serve healthy teas too like the roasted oolong tea pictured. Quirky plastic cup that with the 儳ē„ž label. Haha, don't understand why?!?
