The original outlet in Boon Lay has been serving the dish for over 70 years, and the well-organised menu with pictures has clear prices stated.
.
Quality is pretty good, especially when eaten hot and freshly fried. Taking pride in their generous, chunky portions of handmade ingredients that are served less oily, the 3rd-gen owners tried opening several more locations, but only 2 stalls remain today.
.
What I like here is the thick tender 5 spice roll, with its meaty savoury sweet salty flavour. And the crispy disc-shaped prawn cracker fritters with a light shattering crunch and lovely savoury shrimpy sweet flavour.
.
The other ingredients have that similarly nostalgic, old-school taste. Yes, I did travel out of the way just to eat this... thrice.

The signature dish – Crispy Prawn Cracker β€” shattered as I bit into it. I loved how airy and fragrant the cracker was.

At $8.80 for the spread here, this Ngoh Hiang Prawn Cracker is definitely one of the nicer ones around! Fried items are tasty and fried to the correct amount of warmth! Mix it around with the chilli for a taste enhancement!

Xin sheng ngoh hiong prawn crackers ζ–°η”ŸδΊ”ι¦™θ™Ύι₯Ό for #dinner β€’ Oh I super love deep fried food

It totally didn’t disappoint because the fried beehoon was tasty (not bland) and still moist even after a few hours. The ngoh hiong was also very palatable, especially when dipped into the sweet chilli sauce πŸ˜‹

This stall offers a large variety of ngoh hiang items but my favourite has got to be their prawn fritters. They offers two types of prawn fritters β€” the first type has a light, crispy and airy texture that literally melt-in-your-mouth while the second type has quite an interesting texture, it’s soft and dense in the middle with crunchy edges. How much do I ❀️ their 🦐 fritters? In truth, my colleague and I never fail to order their ngoh hiang when we visit Boon Lay market.
