my favorite dish

Underwhelming chimaek experience with the mother a couple of weeks ago… and this was accentuated by the fact we had queued on a Saturday night for close to an hour.
The soybean paste stew also didn’t wow the golden palates especially when mum had just return from South Korea. That said the place draws a crowd for fuss free casual Korean dining.
And we will choose BHC our new favourite Korean fried chicken over this any day.

Army stew with thin slices of beef, without the beef this would’ve cost $45 but I need my meat😀 When I patronised wonderful bap sang previously, the staff told us that the army stew was sold out which means it’s probably good?? Fast forward to a weekend before the peak dinner crowd, I managed to get a seat easily as well as order the army stew, which was honestly very comforting and delicious on a rainy day. Fit for 2 pax, the army stew was full of ingredients - kimchi, rice cakes, sausages, luncheon meat, bacon, ham, baked beans, and ramyeon, I was stuffed after the meal. The army stew had a good amount of spice in it, and a very appetising tang to it as well. That being said, I personally thought it was more on the pricier side.

The entrance of Wonderful Bap Sang is located within Lee Mart. You know it’s pretty authentic when meals here are served with free-flow banchan like braised soybeans, kimchi, seaweed, seasoned soybean sprouts, baked beans and potato salad.

The kimchi tofu stew is served with steamed rice, accompanied by ingredients such as clams, ham, pork, sausage, tofu, kimchi and egg yolk. The stew has a good consistency and a nice balance of sour and spicy flavours from the kimchi that makes it comforting and hearty for the cold weather.

We also got the pork japchae which consists of stir-fried glass noodles loaded with vegetables such as onions, french beans, carrots and pork slices tossed in light soy sauce seasoning. The noodles have a nice and chewy bite but I find the seasoning leans a little too much on the sweet side.

Kimchi Tofu Stew 》$15.80

Wanted to try their army stew but it was sold out early. Went around peak hour and there was quite a queue outside the shop. Pretty decent spicy soft bean curd stew. A good amount of spiciness, but I thought it was lacking a bit in flavour, perhaps because I went for the dumpling option. One can only hope that the seafood option would’ve made it slightly more flavourful!
