We love Hainanese Chicken Rice, but it shouldn’t stop us from trying a different taste of it. WK Thai Chicken Rice as the name suggest, giving you the taste of Thai style with their chilli sauce.

This is also available in 4 pieces portion as well. Decent, though nothing to shout about — breaded and then deep-fried, the exterior is crisp while the inside reveals soft, prawn paste. Works as a snack while waiting for the other items to arrive at the table.

Apart from Thai Chicken Rice, WK Thai Chicken Rice also serves a small selection of Thai communal plates that patrons can opt to share around the table.

The dish is pretty similar to Stir-Fried Minced Pork with Basil Leaves; just replace the pork with seafood and a little saucier. The savoury sauce goes well with rice, while the stir-fried seafood consists of sotong, prawns and fish in a mix of chili, long beans and onions with basil leaves as well — a combination of savoury and spiciness with a bit of crunch and aroma of basil leaves.

From WK Thai Chicken Rice at Victory8; opened by the folks behind JJ Thai Cuisine, WK Thai Chicken Rice takes over the spot formerly occupied by Makan Thai and serves up Khao Man Gai (a Thai variant of Hainanese Chicken Rice) as their main focus here.

The Thai variant of Hainanese Chicken Rice isn’t too far off from what we are familiar with — the chicken is served in the same way that our White Chicken Rice is; tender with a gelatinous skin that is drenched in a light soy sauce for a lingering savouriness. The rice also carries evident flavour; the same as the local variant that we are more familiar with. There is a slight difference when it comes to the chili sauce here though (not pictured); the chili sauce carries a savoury note rather than the bright, zippy and tangy chili sauce that we are used to. That being said, the set here costs only $4; pretty much the same as I were to opt for Hainanese Chicken Rice elsewhere this a viable option to go for in the area.
