Buttermilk waffles was crisp and light. Both the msw & mandarin clementine gelato tasted rich and has a smooth texture. Definitely a hidden gem in the ang mo kio neighborhood.

Got the Pulau Hitam and salted caramel popcorn. Excuse the photo - Ate it and was so impressed i decided to give a review.

Pulau Hitam ice cream is vegan yet manages to have a fairly thick texture. It actually has a deep coconut and sesame flavor, with chewy hitam rice bits.

Salted caramel popcorn has a more buttery and rich flavor compared to the usual caramel ice cream flavor.

Hints of white chocolate but not tooth-achingly sweet. Chunks of brownies as well!! Additional textures are always a plus👍🏼

Really v good! Has a slight savoury aftertaste which I love, always good to have a sweet and savoury combo 😌 second time getting this flavour, consistency is def there!

Probably one of those neighbourhoods that is a little far-flung from most places, but the newly-opened Winterwoods at Blk 603 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5 is just a short walk from Lentor MRT Station — one of the six new stations which have opened under Phase 2 of the Thomson-East Coast Line; the same HDB block also houses Chelabela Korean Food, which is best known for their affordable Kimchi Fried Rice and having moved from Marsiling to this neighbourhood.

Whilst being primarily an ice-cream parlour, it is interesting to see Winterwoods serve up quite a decent variety of items for an establishment like them — think Classic Buttermilk Waffles, Bottled Cold Brew as well as a Cinnamon Cone to go with their ice-cream apart from the usual waffle or cup options. Case-in-point, the Dark Chocolate Waffle is a pretty thoughtful change from the usual buttermilk waffles — a chocolate-infused buttermilk batter that comes with nibs of chocolate chips embedded within, it is not an item unheard of, but is still one that is rarely served at other establishments. The waffle is crisp, and wafts of an evident chocolatey aroma; the melted chocolate further enhancing those chocolate-y notes and providing an apt sweetness to the waffles. Our choice of the Banana Walnut Oatmilk Ice-Cream was also one that complimented the waffles well — that familiar note of banana milk where one could taste the natural sweetness of mashed bananas, yet matched with a slightly nutty note from the oat milk whilst being smooth and creamy.

Whilst they are still getting used to their operations considering that we had made our visit on their very first day of opening, the set-up feels modest and down-to-earth; seemingly run by folks who really give great care on what goes on the plate, not to mention that they do have such interesting flavour combinations which I am eyeing on such as the Persimmon Sorbeto, Strawberries Chardonnay Sorbeto and the Dark Chocolate Glenfiddich. Given that proximity to me, I would say it is somewhere which I am likely to return to again — especially so for their range of alcoholic-infused flavours which sound pretty exciting; a spot that residents know the area will be proud to have in their neighbourhood!
