Reviews of good food at Wan Hao Chinese Restaurant (Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel)

Check out this fried beancurd drenched with a golden yellow salted egg yolk sauce.

BE STILL MY HEART.

Also, spinach, because healthy eating is important.

Definitely recommended to eat with rice to combat the richness.

When visiting, there are several things you need to order. •
Top of my list would be the stir fried beef tenderloin with shiitake mushrooms ($38 for a small). Around the size of nuggets, these are dripping with a black garlic pepper sauce that sings on the palate. Bursting with flavour, this premium cut of meat is super tender and yields without much resistance. Some might find this is a bit too salty so order a bowl of rice to complete the experience.

Unlike the Orange Chicken commonly found at Panda Express in the states, this was delicious from start to end. The citrus sauce did not overpower the ribs but only served to balance out the strong pork flavour. It was so good that in the end we had to divvy out the last piece as we all wanted it.

Seriously, look at those layers! •
Crispy well seasoned skin, meat that's still juicy and a good proportion of fat. It's served with spicy English mustard to balance it out.

Perfect for a lazy Sunday lunch

Chef Brian has turned traditional delicacies into something spectacular! Presenting one of my favourite dishes; Double-boiled Cordyceps Flower Consomme with Lobster & Egg White. The broth comprising of Chinese ham, old fowl, chicken feet, pork loin and conpoy are boiled for six hours. This consomme is a light-tasting, yet very flavourful and savoury soup prepared using premium ingredients including cordyceps, lobster and egg white. The sweet, bite sized lobster meats were cooked perfectly 👍🏻. And the soft egg white simply melts as you take the first divine mouthful with flavourful broth that lingers in your mouth 😋😋😋. The meat was succulent and tender, sandwiched between juicy layers of fat that was not healthy at all, but we'd gladly surrender our diets for. The stewed mandarin oranges exploded with a tangy sweetness that complemented the sticky, thick coating on the ribs. #burpple #burpproved

Never mind the duck lipped ladies dressed to the nines that riddle Wan Hao and the kitchy interior, we’re here for the food, particularly the peking duck.
Costing $48 for half a duck and $90 for the entire bird, boy it didnt disappoint.
Wheeled into the dining area in all its flightless grandeur, this bird was carved up table-side into fatless, meatless shards, a visual treat.

It was served with chinese pancakes smeared with a dollop of hoisin sauce and a wedge of crunchy cucumber before being crowned with the oily crispy duck skin, this mini chinese taco really turns dining into a form of modern chinese art. You would think the hoisin sauce might overwhelm the palate but paired with the freshness of the cucumber and the richness of the duck really tempered out the taste nicely.
Like I said, What turkey?

.
The mini abalone sitting on the deepfried Taro dumpling and scallop indeed is very well braised and tender chewy. Reminds me of having a mini yam ring, only better in bite-size. — $10.50/2pcs
.
Also in frame, steamed shrimp dumpling (hargow) with Black Truffle and Cordyceps flower. ($6/2pcs) Crispy Mango Prawn in Rice roll ($6.50/portion). Only fit for the best.

If they could use a more addictive savoury sauce instead of their ginseng sauce, we think that their roast duck would easily rival the one at London’s famous Four Seasons.
