Was at Vatos Urban Tacos on a Sunday night; it was pretty filled but we made a reservation on Google.

We were offered their tortilla with two dips (salsa) when we first arrived. Complimentary water was also given.

As usual, their tacos were delicious. The beer battered fish was well fried and offered a delightful crunch that went well with the soft corn tortillas to be wrapped around it. The tomato and cabbage slaw above the proteins were refreshing and introduced some acidity to their tacos, while preventing them from getting to dry. However, if you leave them the tacos there for too long, the sauces may make the tortillas rather wet so they break apart very easily. The prawn tacos were also really well executed, with their prawns nicely deep fried while retaining their juicy interior.

We ordered 3 sets of 3 tacos for 3 pax and they were really filling. We also tried their margaritas, which were stronger than average in terms of the alcohol content. They were refreshing and the salt on the rims went pretty well with the acidity from the lime juice. A pretty good accompaniment to their tacos, the margaritas help complete your Mexican cuisine experience in a nice cozy setting. It’s also a place where you can try some interesting fusion dishes and Korean alcohols too!

Came here without reservation on Friday night and it was packed - lucky that we managed to get a seat! Burpple discount is only available with minimum spend of $60. Quick service despite the full house and the staff were still quite attentive.

Veggie burrito bowl ($16)
Decent portion but nothing outstanding, the rice was quite oily especially at the bottom.

Was excited to try this place because of the reviews but unfortunately the food and service didn’t meet my expectations.

We were seated outside as they were having a full house indoors. That was okay since it was pretty cooling in the evening. However, it started pouring and we were shifted to the sheltered area with no ventilation. Definitely not a pleasant area to have dinner.

Before we sat down, we asked if we could use the Burpple discount. One of the waiters told us we were able to. Only till we foot the bill, then we realized we weren’t able to due to the eve of Vesak Day. Thankfully, the manager still gave us the 15% off total bill, along with an unpleasant attitude. On top of that, none of the staff owned up to telling us we could use the Burpple.

Food was okay. The tortilla was so thin it was mostly soaked in sauce. The portions were little for what we paid too. The only thing that wowed me was the beer! Would definitely go back for the beer but maybe not due to the poor service and the underwhelming food. I can definitely find better tacos elsewhere.

If it wasn’t for Burpple Beyond, we probably wouldn’t know about Vatos. The Just Cheese Please quesadillas made us went wow. Wasn’t expecting anything yet the melted mozzarella and the cheddar cheese crust made us went 🤤. And we highly recommend the Galbi Short Rib tacos. The beef ribs were so tender and it literally melts in your mouth. What’s more, the South Beach Quarter has a laid back vibe and is a charming place to hang after work or even on weekends, we are returning for sure.

Given the vulgar name of this dish, and the chef's recommendation, we thought this was a must-try and we ordered it. The Fat Bastard is a mismash of many things and you can expect beef and pork as the meat ingredients for this dish. It is topped with guacamole, cilantro onion, pico de gallo, and there is salsa and the stall's signature hot sauce added. The serving size was really generous and you can expect to get pretty full from this dish, even though it is priced only at $23++! That being said, it is a mix of many tastes and no flavour really stands out.
