With the noodles hidden by the braised gravy, decked with pieces of pork as well as the delicious fried fish, I could not resist but fastened my footsteps to the seat as soon as I got hold of my orders.

I like that the Lor Mee gravy was slightly thick but not too starchy. The bowl also comprises of half a portion of braised egg and coriander as garnishing. If you prefer your bowl of Lor Mee with Garlicky flavours, additional chopped garlic can be added.

I always thought the long queues at this stall in a kopitiam in West Coast were for their prawn noodles which are very good (see my other post on this stall). But when I realised that a fair number of customers are ordering their Lor Mee, that piqued my curiosity. Even the name of the stall suggests nothing about Lor Mee. I’ve got to try.

And wow! The braised sauce is flavoured with slight herbal taste and of the right consistency. I ordered bee hoon which I always felt was a better test for Braised Noodles, being very bland by itself. Give the bee Hoon a good stir and make sure every strand is coated with the sauce that is well mixed with garlic, chilli and vinegar. So good you want to another mouthful immediately. But the real gem was their fried fish. It was crispy on the outside (yes even though I Da Bao home), and the flesh of the fish, couldn’t tell which type, was still succulent. Every bite was a joy. Some small pieces of braised pork and a braised egg completed the dish.

Not quite Xin Mei Xiang or Feng Zhen but close. And at $4, still quite value for money given the portion is huge.

There are not many times I feel like going back for more the next day. This is one of them. Yummy!

I must agree that the bowl of Lor Mee has passed the average standard. The bowl of Lor Mee has the standard braised pork and gravy was not too thick or sticky.

Accidentally read about this in a review so I have been meaning to try out this stall. But they are off on Sundays which is the day when I normally enjoy Prawn Mee brunch.

Ordered the dry bee hoon mee. At $3.50 a bowl, you get three pieces of pork and three decent sized deshelled prawns. The chilli was not too spicy and goes well with the lard and fried shallots. But the soup! The soup! Really umami with strong flavour of prawns.

Hooked! I must come back soon.
