Chinese New Year has always been the season that some would be looking forward to to get their yearly cravings for McDonald’s Prosperity Burgers checked; we are folks that aren’t that drawn towards the Prosperity Burger all these while — have never been quite a fan of black pepper-based items so our attention usually gets drawn towards the other items. Together with the comeback of the Prosperity Burger for the upcoming Chinese New Year festivities, McDonald’s have also released their dessert offering — the Pineapple Pie, with all of the items featuring a Hello Kitty-themed packaging to go along.

Given how the Pineapple Pie is a fruit-based flavour without that doesn’t come with an infusion of cream cheese like some of its past creations over the span of 2023, the Pineapple Pie shares quite a bit of likeness with its more well-known sibling; the classic Apple Pie that we have come to love. The hand pie features that said crispy, deep-fried pastry that comes with the Apple Pie; don’t think this needs much of an introduction here, while the pie is filled with pineapple jam that is of a similar consistency as that of the filling in the Apple Pie — all that with some chunks of pineapple to chew on. Truth to be told, there isn’t that much of a stark difference between the two, though we thought that the Pineapple Pie might appeal to those whom prefer zingier notes — the Pineapple Pie does come with a sourish tang that also makes it less sweet compared to the Apple Pie. Overall, something which we thought was a little bit on the safer side as compared to other dessert pies that they have to offer especially when taking reference of the item from their Apple Pie; worth a try for those whom are curious, and also those whom must conquer the seasonal items of the menu at least once somehow.

Woohoo~~~Maccas' #twisterfries are back!!! 🥳♥️♥️♥️ Always a welcome change to the typical CNY steamboats, aren't these curly fries fun to eat? 😋 And how cute is the Chinese name 扭扭薯条 ??? 🥰💞

Hershey’s McFlurry is back!!!

I love this more than the regular Oreo McFlurry as the Hershey’s soft serve is chocolate (duh!) and who doesn’t love chocolate?! Well if you say you don’t then we can’t be friends.

The soft serve is creamy and smooth, plus it’s not too sweet. Goes really well with the crunchy Oreo cookies for some extra crunch and even more chocolatey goodness.

I’ll definitely be getting more of the Hershey’s soft serve line, especially excited to try the hot fudge sundae, before this special flavour goes away!

Yes, I was one of the sad deprived few who’d never devoured (or - to be frank - even heard of) the legendary “McGriddles” prior to all this hype, so when I finally peeled open the wrapper and took a huge bite, I was MINDBLOWN!!!!! Who knew sweet and savoury could mix so well, and in the form of fast food no less?!? Essentially a sausage egg McMuffin but with the muffins replaced with a hotcake-based bun that is significantly fluffier than their traditional hotcakes and infused with glistening swirls of maple syrup. It’s available all-day and not just for breakfast (since it puts the entire breakfast menu to shame maybe) so rejoice! Now we can all get ourselves a McGriddle for breakfast, lunch and dinner!! Protip: Visit an outlet that is swarming with people on a mission to get their McGriddles fix, you’re guaranteed to be served a piping hot one, freshly made! .

And what we tot of the food?
The spicy nuggets could do without the spiciness, since most people would take them with curry sauce which would be good enough anyway.
The Minion potatoes? We preferred shoestring fries that would have more crispy edges.
The banana pie kinda reminded us of goreng pisang which we also would rather have if we really wanted a fried banana.
Lastly, the hot fudge banana sundae was a fresh twist to its original vanilla version. But the ChocoCone was a better way to enjoy it, with a crunchy chocolate shell and waffle cone. Overall, chocolate and banana was a winning combination.

Why? The buttermilk buns are soft and fragrant, chicken patty was actually crispy as it should be, and the pineapple and cheese went well with the burger to give it a balanced sweet and savoury taste. Better than their other signature burgers so far.
