Didn’t have much expectation but truly amazed at how good this was! Juicy scrumptious beef plus tasty mayo sauce. Size could be a bit bigger but that’s what all hungry hippos say 😜. Paprika sprinkled fries was fantastic too & a nice small size so you don’t get jelat

It's the 1st store on the right, after the escalator.

Lao Chen's Carrot Cake is uniquely softer than the usual carrot cake that I ever had, some would call it mushy, but it did not taste like it went bad.

I actually quite like this, and this serving for "small" @ $3.50 was rather big as compared with some other places where $3.50 will get me a much smaller plate.

Teng Ji Fried Fish Soup. Priced at $5.50 and $6 (with rice/ noodles), this place serves one of the nicest fish soup/ porridge that I’ve had with very generous amount of fresh fish slices.

Though not listed on their menu, you can order for ‘her mueh’ which is fish porridge where cooked rice is added to the fish soup. It’s absolutely nostalgic as the standard is comparable to a famous stall in Whampoa.

Premium Wanton Noodle 不见天叉烧. My perfect kinda of char siew. Look at layer of meat and fats.

Had the char siew roast meat rice ($4.50) from Lee Hong Kee & pork rib Prawn bee hoon ($5) from Min Nan 闽南.

The char siew is not thin and dry which is good. The roast meat is nothing to shout about.

For the pork rib Prawn Noodle, it is more filling than I expect and pork rib was huge. Only thing I would change is they could have the pork rib in smaller pieces so that it is easier to eat.

A somewhat lacklustre bowl of gan lao mian ($3.50) - the sauce looks much richer than it actually tastes! Was rather bland overall. The noodles were springy but the wantons stale.
