I don't think this was as good as I rmbed. Texture was fine but the filling wasn't explosively flavoured
Still the textbook version it was.
It's blasphemous there's no queue here during lunch. It's quite difficult to find a version that beats this
Teochew meatball was incredibly good, probably homemade or especially procured.
Minced Meat and sliced meat were clean tasting, not much marination. Pork Liver was tender and not powdery, got a little bit of bounce. Noodles were perfectly al dente, it's more on the softer Side. Even with extra sambal, the sauce is on the milder Side. Soup was good
Overall a textbook version, quite good and no gimmicks
The Burpple guide for Tiong Bahru mkt alerted me to this BCM. I asked for extra chili and added meat balls. I liked the look of it. Lots of liao covering the noodles. One of the better BCM around, and I loved the pork lard. The chili could be spicier thou. I will ask for more vinegar next time. Quite a substantial bowl of noodles. Be careful not to spill the delicious meat juice when biting into the meatballs. Soooo gooood! I wanted more. Soup was flavorful, thou there was a layer of oil on top. I finished it anyway.
Everyone probably has had their fair share of BCM, but the one from Tiong Bahru Bak Chor Mee is one that you should try too!
With just the right balance between vinegar & sauce, the springy noodles are gently tossed together before being topped up with minced pork, sliced liver, sliced lean pork and if you'd like, meatballs too.
The combination of everything together in a mouthful is flavourful & the meatballs come with a surprise center - a saltier but juicy mixture of meat, which as Emily would say, is her favourite type of balls.

Tastemaker Emily S loves the Bak Chor Mee ($3) here, and it's easy to see why. Let's start with the basics. The stall owner is generous with the vinegar, and the chilli packs just the right amount of heat. This provides the perfect canvas for the generous amount of ingredients, which includes sliced and minced pork, mushrooms and greens. Their claim to fame however are the homemade meatballs ($1 for a pair); make sure to add these on! Tastemaker Emily describes the meatballs to explode with flavours once you sink your teeth in, thanks to the filling of juicy minced pork. We're sold!
Avg Price: $5 per person
