Same same but different

Quiche / pie set $6.50

I was a little upset when Starbucks changed the serving size of the quiche recently . From a full round quiche , now you only get a small sector.

I managed to pass by the cathedral cafe yesterday - a part of saint Andrew’s cathedral and saw the same looking quiches and Shepard’s pie ( but named as beef pie in Starbucks).

So it is probably the supplied by the same “ manufacturer” . For 6.50 , you get a quiche or pie set here - which is very value for money 😊

And yes - the Shepherd’s pie is good . Creamy mashed potatoes sitting atop savoury and well marinated minced beef - Everyday comfort food .

For those of you that don’t take beef , opt for the turkey ham quiche . Pretty generous fillings and moist and eggy .

Sounds like a good deal for a hassle free lunch 😊

Was delighted to find this cafe beside the cathedral. Went in for coffee and surprised to find such comfortable environment.

Ordered the long black, tasted normal. Will come again as rest spot.

Vast cafe that's located beside the City Hall MRT entrance at St Andrew's Cathedral. Opened since last November, the bright glass-walled space is owned and run by the church. Food and drink is fairly standard, selling wraps, meat pies, cakes, and both artisanal and local-style coffee and tea.
:
The lemon apple cake is saturated with sugar, the sponge inside feels moist and laden with syrup. It would've been a fail if not for the mixed nuts on top, but I did leave much of the cake untouched. Luckily I also had a cup of melon peach tea which was wonderfully fragrant with honeydew tones. They seen to be quite proud of their coffee (boasting a statement in their wifi password) so that's a consideration for the next visit.
:
Again, my personal gripe: things served in disposable wares for dining in. I wish there was an incentive to encourage F&B companies to turn to more eco-friendly options that are equally convenient for their businesses...
